Re: Samsung C32HG70 Curved Gaming Monitor - No Power

Are 100% sure that all Seven rectifier diodes are all tested good?
It sounds like the power supply is in startup/shutdown mode; it can be due to bad startup/running caps (small lytics caps) on the hot side, or shorted circuits on the cold side.
Try measuring all the DC output pins (Or Cathode pin of the rectifier) against GND to see if any of them show low resistance reading or not with and without main board connected.

      Hi Budm,

I checked all of the diodes again and cant see any issues with them.

I will pull the caps now and test them and report back.

      Thanks again,
      Demon

        Update:

I have checked all of the diodes again as well as all of the electrolytic and Polypropylene capacitors - All of them meter ok.

So one thing i have noticed:
On the good power board, when the main board is disconnected, i get a solid 12 -13v at the test point and 400V DC at the large capacitors on the hot side

On the bad board, i still get this fluctuating 6 - 16v but only get ~160v at the capacitors.

not sure what to make of this? Maybe a short somewhere?

Not sure if this helps at all, but ive done a little more probing and on the good board, when the board is off, i get 160V at the large capacitors on the hot side of the board which goes up to 400v when powered on.

On the bad board, the capacitors stay solid at ~160v despite the board trying to cycle to power on?

          Any ideas out there?

          Regards,

Re: Samsung C32HG70 Curved Gaming Monitor - No Power

So i ended up transferring the MOSFET and a bunch of other through-hole components from the second board (which was stuck trying to boot) to the board which kept blowing fuses.

The good news is that the board now powers up. The bad news is that it has an unsual problem that i have never seen before in that; whenever there is the slightest movement in the power board, it cuts out and reboots.

I suspect there is a bad connection somewhere but after an hour have not managed to find it...

Does anyone know of anything else that would manifest in this kind of behavior?

            Thanks all,
            Demon

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....
