I need a component # on my power supply board. Backlights failed and shorted the transistor that regulated the power to them. Model number is: UN58J5190AFXZA. Board number is: BN44-00787A. Part is located on back side near the backlights power plug. Location ic Q9102C. Transistor is heat damaged and I can't read the number. Can anyone help?
Thank you to the guys at HEGE supporting Badcaps [ HEGE ] [ HEGE DEX Chart ]

it will be a FET. Can you read the part number on the driver IC, located beneath the burned component?
Searching its datasheet would give an idea, because manufacturers often use the recommended solution from the datasheet. But there are a few other things to take into consideration: why has it failed so badly? You have to find it out, maybe the backlight LEDs have made contact with the metal chassis? Also, when this FET goes bad, the driver IC and a few other surrounding components also go bad.
Edit: Found it. AOD3N40. But you still need to find the reason it has failed so badly.Last edited by yohnsee; 11-11-2018, 12:41 PM.Cheers, Janos

Check Shopjimmy and see their note: https://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-un...repair-kit.htm
"This model has an above-average rate of LED strip failure"

Re: Samsung un58j5190 power supply failed
Thank you very much. I think I have some 3N40s on some other junk boards I’ve collected. The IC looks like an SEM 5027A. Don’t know if I have one of those but $3 maybe. Tkhe nearby resistor and diode on the top side of the board seem ok. Looking at the board I thought it would be junk but I checked the traces from the FET and all had “0” ohm continuity and none were shorted to other traces so I thought I might replace a few components and see if the board will fire back up. I’ve been to ShopJimmy and they say if the backlights fail likely it will crash the board, so backlights are next. Just a hobby to keep my old retired brain going. So if I can fix for little or nothing I can find someone that needs. Thanks again.

Re: Samsung un58j5190 power supply failed
Just an add-on if someone reads this post. Got a backlight taster and the backlights were bad which is what burned out the power board. May help you diagnose if you see this damage. Hard to make a case for repair when I have no use for it and the value is close to the repair cost. I mostly donate them anyway and like donations that bring several times the investment. Anyway this forum is a great resource and I appreciate the help. Thanks again.
