    UMC M40/57G-GB-FTCU-UK not powering up

    Hi Guys,

Been asked to look at this set for a neighbour, it is a UMC.

    M40/57G-GB-FTCH-UK
    UM40D57BFTCUG143

You power it up, get the red light and thet it turns blue you hear a sound from the PCB on the left side of the TV (looking from the rear) you hear a sort of fizzing sound from the PSU after a second or two, the blue light stays on for around 8 seconds, then turns red and it just cycles doing that. Cant see any obvious damage to caps etc, any thoughts please.

Its is probably a firmware problem. Try finding the appropriate firmware for this tv/board

umc do have a web site regarding firmware not sure what the price is though
      http://www.umc-uk.co.uk/firmware.php
as you know sometimes freezing/heating the eeprom ic will get the set too work if this is the case you maybe able too read the firmware

There is either a fault with the backlight inverter (likely faulty transformer) or a bad ccfl lamp. Remove the metal shield and reinstall the screws to hold the board in place, the screws also ground the board to the chassis. Try the set in a dark room to see if you can see any arcing on that board, The next thing to check would be for bad connections on the transformers and also check the dc resistance of the transformer secondaries, and compair the reading to the others on the board.

What is happening is the backlight is trying to start up, detects a fault and shuts down.

like r_j says check the inverter circuit and ccfl lamps first i have seen ohms do a eeprom for this set so it maybe issue too.

Hi all, I have removed the metal frame, I tried to remove the PCB but it is secured by the whiteish pleastic pieces on the edge of the PCB, so shall I just power it up now with frame off to look for arcing? or shall I just replace frame and try it?

            Thank you

those white plastic pieces maybe the ccfl tube connectors so just be careful you dont crack any tubes i would power the set up in a dark room and see if you can see whats arcing, you may have to put the screws back on the pcb as may use them to ground the pcb.

                Hello to everyone ,

This is my first post here, and i would like to share with you a small story in case you can help me.

Docker Type-C Gen 2 - Model 40AS. Was given to me by a friend for free ,but with the problem that you cannot use the video output ports.

All ports work , USB , Ethernet, Type C ... but HDMI + Display Port don't work

I searched on reddit and google for problem similar to that, and a LOT of people had fixed this problem by updating the firmware. So i tried , i searched and found 1.1.13 utility and 1.1.20 utility that can help...

Anker SoundCore 2 Bluetooth Speaker Turns Off After a Few Seconds (Possibly Firmware Issue?)
                by zklgfs
                Hi,

I have an Anker SoundCore 2 (A3105) that I saved from the trash (well, I guess there's a reason why it was supposed to go into the trash...). The problem is that it always turns off after a few seconds (sometimes it stays on a bit longer, between 30 and 60 seconds, but it still turns off). The power light turns on and the bluetooth light starts blinking, but both abruptly turn off again. The "turn off sound" is still played after the lights turn off. Sometimes, it also loops the on-off cycle several times without me pressing any buttons. If I connect an AUX cable, music...

                Ubiquiti firmware help. US-8-150W POE
                by gurj1979
                Hi guys.

I've got a Ubiquiti US-8-150W POE switch which has issues with updating the firmware.
Turned out to be a bad EEPROM chip. It would read the firmware and work as normal, but failed to write new firmware to it.

So I took off the chip and read on EEPROM and saved it. Wrote to old chip and failed to write
Got New chip and writes good.

                THE PROBLEM...
It fails to fully load the firmware, POE lights fail to work during g firmware test during load. I'm suspecting bad EEPROM Read.

Does anyone have a Good Firmware I can have?...

                AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
                by wattage
                Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

NP930XED Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro Laptop PD Firmware Loop
                by sikocan
                Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a recent experience I had with a laptop that had a Type-C Port issue, specifically related to a PD (Power Delivery) controller problem. After replacing the damaged PD controller chip with a new one I purchased from AliExpress, the laptop now charges properly and negotiates power as expected, allowing the device to power up. I've replaced this chip twice just in case.

However, it seems that the laptop's BIOS is detecting an older version of the PD Firmware on the newly installed chip. As a result, it attempts...
