I picked up a DP42848 the other day and to my surprise it wasn't cracked. Instead however it works but has colored vertical lines across the screen, and they also go over top of the OSD. I tried tapping the back of the TV but they did not change or go away. The do however change color and get thicker/thinner if I twist the TV a little bit. Attached is a picture of the lines. Is this a T-CON issue, panel issue, or possibly just dirty/loose LVDS cables? I haven't had time to open it up yet to check the latter.

Re: Sanyo DP42848 colored vertical lines
I finally got time to check out the TV today. I cleaned and reseated the ribbons going from the T-CON to the panel and saw no improvement. While in there I spotted a bad cap on the main video board. I replaced it even though I knew it wasn't the culprit, simply because it needed to be replaced anyways.
Is it even possible for the T-CON to cause these kind of vertical lines? Or is there likely something wrong with the panel itself? As I mentioned before, twisting the screen changes the size and color of the lines.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP42848 colored vertical lines
if twisting the screen changes the lines etc i would suspect bad tab bonds like r_j asks is the t con on the top or bottom of the tvComment

Re: Sanyo DP42848 colored vertical lines
i would wait too see what others think first but then you may have too strip the tv down a bit and put some pressure on the tab bonds and see if they go away its a bit odd the lines are all across the screen though the issues i have seen its just been one sectionComment

Re: Sanyo DP42848 colored vertical lines
I know, it's very odd. Every picture I've seen when searching "vertical colored lines" are all screens filled with lines all the way across, or just one half filled. This is an older TV though, so perhaps the tabs are somehow uniformly coming loose. Hopefully someone else can jump in with suggestions.Comment

by Stanley1843Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

by FalkiHello there, ive recently found an older 55inch Samsung SmartTV.
Sadly it has vertical lines at the left and one line in the middle-right.
I have already tested out the connections and have looked at the soldered ribbons of the LCD panel to see if some contacts got loose by pushing them a bit but with no success.
I have factory resetted the TV as well but also with no luck.
I am afraid that it is indeed a LCD Panel issue but there are NO scratches or any impact-marks..
A similar issue has been posted as well but also with no actual response ...6 Photos -
First. it has no picture at all. i solved it by covering the ckv lines using tape to to block the connections
Second. now has picture but with vertical lines that follow the image. tcon board ic overheating
tried blocking LC lines too, but same results
is it lcd panel issue or tcon board issue?... -
by gpo23Hello,

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :
I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

by SuperluminalHi all, looking for some input on this one. I've been reading the forums for quite some time but this is my first time posting for help.
LG 47LV5500-UA
10 years old
20,000+ hours on it.
Watching TV on it last week and right while I was watching the image suddenly started experiencing the symptoms in pics. Rainbow chromatic vertical lines and alignment issues. The issue is uniform across the entire panel. It does not come and go, the symptoms are stable.
Here is what I've tried so far:
- Factory reset and cycle of picture options.... - Loading...
- No more items.
