    Samsung UA55ES6200M bad panel

    Hi,
Just acquired a Samsung UA55ES6200M which originally did display picture for an instant then no picture. Backlight is good throughout.
Did the tcon test by disconnecting left and then right side of the cable to panel and identified that right side looking from the front of the tv was faulty. Masked the first 2 pins from the right, with the scotch tape and the panel started showing full screen. But then there are horizontal lines in the lower half. Also, the right side looks dark and solarised. Need your expertise and help in resolving it. Pictures are as attached.

As you have figured, you have a panel issue. The "tape" technique that you used likely blocked the power feed to the side that is in trouble, hence that side isn't being driven and remains "darker". IF the set has side tabs (along each side... probably does), then the likely only solution is to remove all the tabs from the side that is bad. From your picture, it appears that one of the lower tabs on the right side (front looking) is bad. You can confirm this by looking at those tabs along the side and seeing if there are any obvious issues (ie. heat marks, etc). There are lots of threads about this type of "save" for various sets. The set's display will be basically normal once all the side tabs have been removed.... but if you are hoping to sell this, you should inform the buyer of the "work" as it is "non-design intent". Sets that have had this done, have been functioning over 3 years but they could also fail at any time since the set is operating with "one arm tied".

Thanks a lot, Budwich. I'll disassemble the panel and update here on the outcome.
        Cheers.
