might work. Of course, my "shipping cost quote" on that auction might be steep at $101... :-) Anyways, I wouldn't do anything unless you can locate the trace on the panel and you can find an area that you can gently scratch any protective coating off to attach to. Note: if you can find said trace, and are really careful with the coating removal, then you might not have to be so careful with the glue assuming that it won't eat thru the surrounding trace protection, if there are any (ie. you can just blob it on and it will only conduct to the area that you have scratched).

Anyways, it might be worth the gamble ... or at least a fun experiment with future knowledge potential.

Of course, this does nothing to find that actual root cause as to why the section of the ribbon was "torched" in the first place. :-(

I can find the trace on the board side and, with some care, attach a jumper wire..

But I would be hard pressed to figure out how to access the corresponding trace on the panel side..

I am thinking of maybe getting some really find sandpaper and cleaning both sides of the burn and then lay in some conductive glue and hope... If it's just one trace, I might get lucky. I don't think I have the eye/hand coordination to actually address any individual traces in cellephane..

As to how it happen, I know what you said before about the humidity, but I can't help but think that some moisture developed and them when I powered up the TV, it shorted something and fried the trace..

you might get lucky. Yes from your picture it does look some what impossible to trace at the panel. On the sony that I have, some of the end cable tracks appear along the bottom corner of the panel and can be readily seen. Anyways, one thing you can try, is use you meter (on ohms) and see if you can get a "measure" towards the board (ie. short)... that will at least tell you that trace is good into the cable on one side. Then take your best "eye" and see what you can do with the glue to the other side... you never know. Further, if you measure some "thing" towards the board.... you could also try the other direction (using a common ground as one point)... if you again get lucky, you should get a valid measurement which tells you that perhaps your idea might have a chance.

Finally got the glue stuff I need.. sanded down the area slightly and applied the glue... Don't hold out much hope, but I'll test it in a few... Might get lucky..

On a somewhat related not.. If this doesn't fix, I am planning on using this TV as a display monitor, just without the right 1/8th of the TV displayed..

I know you can adjust resolutions on a computer, but is there a way to directly adjust the exact size of the display, width and height??

Welp, no luck with the conductive glue.. Was a longshot at best...

Oh well, I got a nice monitor out of it..

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
                    by Hakuu
                    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
