I have a Samsung UN50J5200AFXZA television. Initially screen was flashing on and off but nothing on screen, just light from the backlights. Power supply was putting out correct voltages, 12.2V when on. Replaced main board and getting lines on screen. Unhooked one side of T-con and getting good picture on one side of panel. When swapping side that are unhooked getting faint light spot. When both ribbons are hooked up still nothing on screen.

Re: Un50j5200afxza
So do you think being one side of the panel may be bad, do you think that pulling the tabs on the one side might work. I have been reading about it in the forums. What do you think?Comment

Re: Un50j5200afxza
There may be short circuit on one side, I.E. shorted/resistance leakage of the cap or shorted TFT driver IC's.
Easiest thing to do is to check the resistance between the two legs of each SMD caps on the tab bonding board first.
" do you think that pulling the tabs on the one side might work" they are not pulling from the tab bonding board, they are side tab on the flexible PCB.Last edited by budm; 05-09-2018, 10:07 AM.Never stop learning

Check on ohms test with a voltmeter.. Those tan rectangles caps. Are any of them reading low ohms? 0 ohms? Compare these readings to the working side of the panel.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Just to be sure, the good side shows 3.4 Ohms, or K Ohms, or M Ohms?
The bad side shows 1.2 Ohms, correct.Never stop learning

Re: Un50j5200afxza
3.4 Ohms on the 'good' side seems a bit abnormal. We thought it might have been higher. The 1.2 Ohms on the 'bad' side seems to be the probable cause of your issue.Comment

Re: Un50j5200afxza
IMHO that is a bad screen and may not be repairable. Could I get a close up focused pic of your T-CON Bd.? What is the T-CON Bd. No.? Also look on the T-CON BD and on the Panel Bds. to identify Test Points marked CKV, CKV1, CKV2, STVP, etc and CKVB, CKVB1, CKVB2, STVP1, etc.Last edited by Andrew F. Ali; 05-10-2018, 01:17 PM.Comment

Re: Un50j5200afxza
can you describe a bit about what the pictures are ... ie. both of the same side, tcon half connected, input signal?
It doesn't look good as suggested, likely a panel issue. A picture of the "good setup" might confirm more. Outside of that, are there tabs on both sides of this panel and if so check the side which was showing the "bad picture" ... look for heat or other issues on the tab "tape" / ribbon.
You might be able to save the set with a "tab removal" or a "tape cutoff method" (where tape is put on a portion of the tcon to panel connector to block part of the "bad"... that is if there is no side tabs.
looking at the first picture, that appears to be an issue with the tcon to panel cable as maybe not seated properly. A picture of the whole screen would be better as the actual "close up of the lines" isn't really important... more about where they are on the screen in terms of overall position and what else is happening on the screen (choose a good signal input).Last edited by budwich; 05-10-2018, 05:13 PM.Comment

Re: Un50j5200afxza
I have two t-cons, and have tried both with two different sets of ribbons, and get the same results. When both ribbons are hooked up the backlights come on but the screen is entirely blank. Sorry about the picks not being that clear. When looking at the back of the t.v. and the t-con ribbon on might right is unhooked the left side of the screen looks fine. When the t-con ribbon on the left is unhooked the right side has the lines.Comment

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -

by reformattJust had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM -
by smic717394Hi,
I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on... -
by ipatchi have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...
