    Sony XBR-55X900E turns off randomly

    Hi Experts,

I wonder who has experience with repairing Sony Bravia TVs?
I've got XBR-55X900E Android TV. It has latest firmware update. After a week or so, it started to turn itself off.
Before turning off, picture is standing still for few seconds, sound may go on, the after few seconds it turns off.
Sometimes it turns off then back on and is staying on SONY logo. Will not boot.
When it turns off, I can't turn it on right back. Need to do power reset and it may require up to 15 or more minutes I can turn it on.
And at one occasion when I was doing factory reset, background behind rings got greenish.
In service center they are telling that most probably it is a processor, but that is just a clear guess.
There is no error listed in TVs service menu, error log.

Please also see following videos illustrating the problem.

Want to say that TV may run fine for 2 days, and start turning off on third. Than after night, it will work OK again. So behavior seems completely random.

Can someone tell if this really sounds like a processor? Should I go blind and replace main board?

it could very well be a cold solder joint under the main IC on the main board. Seems like it is a new TV. Does it have any warranty left?

It's a new TV. Bought in USA shipped to Armenia. So no warranty. So, do you mean the main chip, which is BGA packaged chip, needs to be removed and solder on main board again?

You could remove the Main Bd. from the TV and heat the BGA chip for 10mins @ 350degrees using a hot air station. I've done this with several LG TVs but have not come across this issue with a SONY. It seems like you have a cold solder joint on the BGA chip, so I think using a Hot air station will solve your issue.

Thanks for the inputs. Can you send a link to video how this procedure is done? I don't have PCB engineering experience. Only chip design

So, anyone who experienced such behavior on Sony Bravia before?
By the way, what were the symptoms for LG TVs for cold solder joint of main processor?

                Could be a corrupted eprom.

When the Power button was pressed the set would turn on and shut down Sometimes after a few seconds or after sometimes after a few minutes. Sometimes the stand-by light would just remain flashing in the normal manner to start-up but never started.

my bet is on the main IC or the eeprom. When the TV crashes next time take a can of air upside down or freeze spray and freeze the eeprom first and turn the TV on. Same thing with the main IC. Other than that, try reflowing the main IC.

I wonder what common issues you have faced with this model: XBR-55X900E?
What are typical failures on this model.

I wonder when you blow hot air onto the chip, how other componemts are not getting loose and not detaching from the board?

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

I got a 15-IIL05 that failed to turn on BUT IT DID TRY TO TURN ON and then turned off after 30+- seconds, i disassembled it and found a screw loose inside the case.
With charger it turns on, fan spins but gives no image.
Tested main mosfets no short, tested 3.3v,5v,DRAM, CPU etc and they were present.
                                          Reflashed BIOS, same problem.
                                          Replaced both main mosfets.
Checked main mosfets again and i noticed that they closed once the laptop shut down, so i decided to bypass them and used a bench PSU to check how much power the laptop was drawing while trying to turn on, 20v@3A,...

I have had it for about 5-6 months because when I moved apartments the previous owner left the tv. and I got it for free it is a plasma tv and looks nice enough. an issue that started to happen was that it would kick off randomly but I could still turn it on well about a month or so I assumed the power button went out so I got a universal remote and programmed all lg codes and nothing just the solid red standby light so fast forward to a week ago...

Sony RB2G Chassis KDL-55W815B MAIN BOARD 2 Blink Error issue resolved! Happy days :)

For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

I've had this laptop for 8-9 years, and about a week back, it started malfunctioning. When I press the power button, the power LED comes on for about 5secs and turns off. The fan also doesn't spin at all during this time. But, if I press the power button, and then manually spin the fan, the laptop boots up and the fan starts spinning on its own. Even if I do this, and the laptop boots up, it turns off (hard shutdown) after some time between 10secs and 1hour randomly. I've tried checking the fan voltage and it's at zero volts when I press the power button without spinning it, but when I spin the...
