    SONY - KDL-40RD453 - Over bright picture

    hi,
    I was at a customers house this morning to check out the above tv,
    Everything with the tv is fine apart from a constant over bright/contrast picture on all channels & inputs.
    In the the setting i've turned down the levels of the brightness/contrast & the backlight level...this does bring the brightness down but each picture still shows a higher than normal brightness. any ideas?
    I'll upload photos once i find my data cable.

      Maybe try a different mode like movie mode or something, if it has it... Maybe it is set to something similar like dynamic or auto, which adjusts for the LCD brightness with the brightness of the room?

          hi Capleaker, i've done a factory reset on the tv, but fault persists,

                      That sounds like a bad Gamma IC on the T-CON Bd.

                          Hey everyone,

                          the picture on my philips monitor looks way too bright so that black appears grey and colors also seem too bright.



                          While i tried to tilt the screen a little bit while it was displaying a picture, i´ve noticed, that there appeared some purple pixels. In the following picture
                          you can see them on the top half of the photo.



                          At a certain point during the tilting, the picture looked normal again but as soon as i laid it back down, the purple pixels were gone and the picture was bright again.

                          5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens.                           Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?

                          Hi,

                          i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
                          Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
                          If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
                          Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
                          With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

                          Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
                          Or is it always a bad/shorted...

                          diagnosing sony XBR-75X900H. NO PICTURE

                          This tv is not even 3 years old. its a sony XBR-75X900H, it was like a flashbang went off suddenly, tv faded to black and no picture. backlight is on. tried to do the power cycle, factory reset. i get beeps from remote if i tap up/down but no picture. how can i determine if its the panel or a board? i have replaced boards before im just not sure what the issue is here. sony said nothing they can do and only suggested to find a local repair shop. please guide me here
