    TV audio output question

A customer has TV with only an AV out for audio and has stereo sound connected. This is OK for normal digital TV reception however if he connects an input via HDMI such as Chromecast the audio only plays in the TV itself with nothing to his other setup. I see add ons such as an hdmi audio converter but is there a simple solution otherwise?

Can you use the TV headphone output?
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

He used that on his previous set and was OK. The bigger set now doesn't have a jack only AV out.

depending on the set and the AV equipment being used, the "normal" method for getting audio out when not carrying it out via hdmi (before it reaches the set... ie. source, av, tv) is to attach an optical cable from the tv to the av equipment to handle digital audio on av equipment not capable of hdmi decoding or over the air audio also.

Go into the USER Menu and check the routing for the Audio Out. Some TVs you have to manually set the Audio Out for each input. Some TOSHIBA YVs are like that.
