Samsung UE48H6400AW, sound but no image

    Samsung UE48H6400AW LCD TV

    Main Board: BN94-07309H
    T-Con: BN95-01309A
    Power Supply: BN44-00709A

A friend of mine has a Samsung UE48H6400AW TV that does not work anymore.
When the TV is plugged in the backlight is off and it shows no picture when doing the "flashlight test". The sound however does work.

When I connect my laptop to the TV via an HDMI cable the TV remains to show the same symptoms, and only sound can be heard.

Some power does go to all boards, because all boards have at least one LED that is lit, plus there is sound.

When disconnecting the Main board from the power supply, the backlight does go on and stays on till the power cable is unplugged again or the connection between the mainboard and Power supply is reestablished.

Does anyone here know what part of the TV could be broken?

Can we at least get some pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the board so we can see what we are dealing with?

      Thank you for replying.
I will get those pictures as soon as I am able to. This is my first experience on any forum ever, and did not expect a reply this quickly, currently its the middle of the night here.

I do happen to have one picture however, it is a picture of the T-Con module.

So the power supply and backlights/backlights circuit are OK.
If you disconnect the cable from T-CON to the main board, do you get backlights to come on?

          I took the pictures today.
The first image shows the whole backside of the TV. The following three pictures are the three individual boards. And the last picture answers your question:

The answer is YES. The backlights do come on when the T-CON board is disconnected from the main board. Do you happen to know what this means?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem on the same television.
Is the t-com the one that fails or can it be the panel?
Thank you very much for your help.

P.S. I'm sorry for my English but I only speak Spanish and use a translator

If the backlights come on with the main board disconnected on Samsung tvs, then the main board is suspect. You should check if the BL-ON signal is coming from the main board and also check the rest of the voltages on that connector.

Maybe check tcon fuse, see if you have voltage on each side.

Samsung UE48J6200K - No image but sound
                  by Francesc V.
                  Hi:

This TV turns on and it can show picture for some seconds (sometimes minutes) then picture freezes and fades away. What I've seen so far is that the T-Con (BN41-021101A) starts with three leds on, but as soon as led3 turns off, just 12V and 3.3V (the bold ones) remains in the PCB but all others disappear.

If I remove the 2 bellow ribbons, LED2 never turns on. I was trying to look for the "T-CON ready" pin to shorten with 3.3V and then test just the TCON without the panel (haven't found it yet)

Not sure how to proceed here..............how can...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                  by Ierwin
                  Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

                  by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
