    Sagem DTR67500T bad IR receiver

Hi, I have a Sagem DTR67500T hard disk recorder with a dodgy IR receiver. IR only works if I have the remote within a foot of the receiver.

The problem isn't in the remote itself as it happens with multiple universal remotes too, so must be at the receiving end.

I have removed everything in front of the IR receiver and given it a clean with no improvement.

Is it likely to be the IR receiver itself that is dodgy, or some other component near it on the motherboard?

Can anyone identify the IR component, to the right of the LEDs in the photos, so I can try replacing it? There's no writing on it that I can see.

it could be the IR receiver, but also could be one of the caps near it. I would check if the IR receiver is getting clean power first, before I'd swap that IR. An Oscilloscope would come in really handy here, if you have one or can borrow one from a friend.

Thanks. I don't have an oscilloscope or know anyone with one. I have a DMM if that helps, although I don't know what to measure.

These are a 3 pin device, one pin is ground, one pin is signal and the last is the supply voltage, which in this case seems to be the pin on the end with the 10uf/16v cap. connected to it. measure that voltage, then you could try one from something else that matches the voltage and pin configuration.
As stated above, you would need a scope to check the output pulse, but I suspect the ir module is weak

Thanks. My problem is trying to find an IR module that will fit. I've not managed to find one on RS Components (I'm in the UK). Where else should I look?

            I would think anywhere, http://www.kiatronics.com/leds-ir/in...ode-70383.html
something like this most likely would work if the pin config is the same and the voltage is the same

Thanks. I've seen lots of that type but wasn't sure they would work. I mean, they're not the same width, don't have the two mounting/grounding legs at the front, and are through-hole rather than surface mount. But if you think that doesn't matter, I can give that a go. How easy is it to mount what is normally a through-hole component onto surface-mount pads?

Just bend the legs until everything fits

Ooh many thanks, brilliant finding, that's got to be the one. All I need to do now is determine the exact part (I see there are variants for 36kHz, 38kHz or 40kHz), and find someone who sells it (mouser is out of stock).

Hello, for the sake of the archives, I did replace the IR module with one I found on ebay (38 kHz), and it worked great. The remote control now works at a normal distance. Many thanks again to R_J for visually identifying the component.

                        Hi,
I have this TV a small 20 inch that works perfectly except for the IR has stopped. I have confirmed that the remote control is fine and tried an alternative and even tried with IR blaster from phone. Remote 100% ok.

Tried installing latest firmware but no change.

TV won't respond to remote at all, not even to bring it out of standby. I have to use the touch sensitive front panel to operate, at which point TV is usable albeit with no remote.

Tried replacing the IR receiver diode/bulb on front panel and no change so put the old one back. After tracing...

For this Dick Smith TV GE6878 (Thompson) I replaced the broken remote with a universal it kinda works though if its more than a few meters away sometimes the buttons register and sometimes they wont so I bought another remote from another brand and it has the same problem, I've had an old TV in the past that the sensor died completely and I replaced it to fix it could this be a similar problem? I tried looking for a service manual, spare parts for a receiver and a parts list but I couldnt find any info. can someone please help me to find the info online for a service manual or where I can buy...

hi i have a receiver that is destroyed from the overvoltage i guess
my question is has three wires u v w for driving a motor fan i found an other receiver wireless from aliexpresss with the same propertiew but for dc motor
the motor fan has not label
i have an other receiver operational
In your opinion can i measure the voltage at the output ?
what do you suggest me with a simple instrument multimeter or using someone instrument more specific ?
                        thanks in advance...

DeLonghi AC Remote only accepts 3V
                        by cstout
Hello all, I've been looking into this portable air conditioner's remote control and can't find what could be causing the problem - or possibly this remote is just terribly designed.

The remote only works at exactly 3V - if I drop it any lower, using my bench power supply, to say, 2.9V then the remote will not flash the display and turn off. I don't have any AAA batteries that are exactly 1.5V each so I'm not sure if this remote is designed this way - to only use the freshest possible batteries, or if there's a failed component in the mix.

                        I can't find any schematics...

                        by edugimeno
Hi! I have this TV set that does the following:
                        1) I press the red power button on the remote
                        2) The TV turns on normally
                        3) After that it won't take any other command from the remote, neither power off, volume, channel, NOTHING
                        4) We need to either pull the main cable or use the built in button at the bottom to select funcion OFF

Then after it's off, it would again accept the TURN ON from the remote and same again

                        BUT:
-The remote does show the correct IR beam while observed thru a phone camera
-The TV works fine while using the MiRemote...
