    Ocosmo E32 no backlight

Tv powers up fine but no backlight.

Opened it up thinking it might be an led issue but noticed a diode measures shorted and a resistor looks blown (see picture)

Is there a way to determine if the LEDs shorted causing this without removing them from the panel?

Should I just replace the parts and see what happens?

If anyone has a schematic for this model that would help me trace back the circuit with the shorted diode

I removed the diode and it was fine. I’m not sure if I’m just measuring across transformer legs in parallel.

The resistor that looks blown open is bad.

    What should I check next

That 6.2 Ohm resistor is connected in parallel with that Diode that is why it shows conduction in both direction when you tested that diode still on the board.
What resistance do you get on each one of those two '3303' resistors?
What dc Voltage on each pin of the LED connector when you first turn on the TV?

One resistor reads 300k and the other 5Mohm

        I’ll do voltage tests tomorrow

What would that 6.2ohms resistor be used for? Current sensing?

May be or may be not, you need to trace out the Cathode return pin of the LED connector to see if it is directly connected to one end of that resistor or not, another end of that resistor should be connected directly to GND.

Ok I drew out the routing

The (yellow line) shows how the bad resistor is in series with the 330k next to it and the other end of the bad resistor connects to the ferrite bead? Which goes to the anode terminal of the led connector

Cathode side (orange line) of led connector connects to the 6.2ohm resistor

Taking voltage measurements. When it’s in standby I get 35v on the red anode side of led connector.

When first power on voltage jumps to 124v then slowly decreases. Voltage at cathode of led connect remains at 0v the entire time

              Does this indicate led failure?

                TV backlight zener diode
                by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm repairing an LG TV backlight and I noticed some strange behavior when I touching the backlight strip with a missing Zener diode.

So I replaced the leds on the strips and they seemingly working fine, but soon as I touch the strip which has a missing Zener diode the whole backlight turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on.

Is this caused by the missing diode? If so what kind of zener diode should I use to replace it?.

The led strips has 9 6V leds.

TVS diode shorted on HP motherboard
                by Askic
                Hello guys,
I have seen a few videos on youtube about repiring HP 15 pavilion laptops that has TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode shorted to the ground.
Please have a look at the attached picture.
The diode is P4SMAJ20A and according to the datasheet its breakdown voltage (at 1 mA is 22.2V or 24.6V at10 mA).
THis means that if voltage goes higher that 23V this diode will start conducting and short to ground thus protecting rest of the circuits from overvoltage.

What I don't understand if is this diode reversible, for example if voltage goes below 20...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
                by ttmi100x
                Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

                Upon closer inspection...

                Help identifying shorted diode.
                by Donny2derby
                Hi there all.

Troubleshooting an SMPS and I’ve found a SMD diode shorted in both directions. The trouble is it has no identification on it. So what do I replace it with and how do I tell where the anode and cathode is and how to mount the replacement?

It is diode D1 on the image.

                Regards.

Which resistor should I remove/replace to decrease current to backlight leds?
                by unimatrix93
Dear community, I want to increase the lifespan of my backlight led in my TV by decreasing the current.

However I need some help identifying the resistor I need to replace to achieve this.

                Thank you!
