    Vertical lines on Sharp LC-70LE650U

    Hello.
I was watching some TV one day when I noticed the upper left hand part of my screen having a greenish tint (see photo1). I went online and searched for the problem and some suggestions for fixes, which led me to these forums.

I tried the reset option multiple times, but nothing worked. After some research, I found out that I could "save" the TV. I opened the back and tested out the t-con board. I tried the ribbons one at a time, and the one on the left (audience view) was the problem (see photo2). I had read about the tab driver 'removal' method, so I opened up everything to try that. At this point, I guess my dad didn't feel comfortable removing the tabs, so he kind of rubbed on them to make sure they were stuck on. (Maybe this was where we went wrong....?)

We put in the left-side ribbon into the t-con board, and the greenish tint on the upper left hand corner was gone! Hurray!

And then we plugged in the ribbon on the right side, and we were dismayed to find vertical lines on the right hand side of the screen (see photo3). We were so sad.

My dad thought that there was some trouble with the t-con board/ribbon connector because he had some trouble putting the ribbon back in. He thinks he might have made a mistake and broken something..

We actually got a "new" t-con board off of ebay, and the seller said that we should check the ribbon ends to make sure the edges weren't bent or broken before connecting to the new t-con board. There weren't any issues with the ribbon ends, so we connected it, but nothing changed.

Is the TV lost forever? Or should we try maybe buying the t-con board to screen ribbons?

Unfortunately, I am not at the same place where the TV is being stored, but any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you very much!

Re: Vertical lines on Sharp LC-70LE650U

your issue is "probably" a "tab bond problem".... BUT it may not be on the sides. Anyways, you can do more "checking" with a bit more "disassembly" work (on the frame / bezel). You need to get access to a small corner flex cable that interconnects the bottom edge boards (at the very bottom of the panel / frame) to the side edge boards (which look basically the same). There are "unclampable" like the tcon cables. With the tcon cables all PROPERLY connected (use your glasses or magnifying glass if necessary), disconnect one corner (of course with the power disconnected) and see what the resulting display is. If you disconnect the one that is on the same side associated with the vertical lines, you might get lucky. Go from there.

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
      by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
      by kca
      Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

TCL 43S423 TCON OR PANEL FAULTY???
      by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
      by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Sharp LC-70LE650U vertical black and red bars
      by ninja_zx11
      Hi all,

70" LED TV is Sharp LC-70LE650U.

Initial problem was horizontal lines and slow motion lurrs on the bottom left of the screen. So I removed both the left and right ribbon cables from the T-con board and tried to clean it with alcohol and when I put it back, this issue appeared. I tried carefully reinserting the ribbon bon cables but same thing. I checked the traces of the ribbon cables with magnifying glass and everything looks good. I cleaned the small jumper ribbon cable on the left side of the screen which cured the horizontal line and slow motion blurs...
