Well the sets been sitting for almost 3 years and I thought it was high time I got to fixing it or bought a replacement. Went and looked at the newest offerings and I don't get it. I was not impressed so I better fix this one!
Was pretty disappointed with this set only lasting 5 years but the picture quality was always great. 3 years ago it started not coming on unless I held the power/on button down for extended lengths of times. It had to be held down longer and more frequently as time went on. I was originally getting either 2 or 3 blinks when the set wouldn't come on?
When it finally stopped completely it went to 9 blinks and that's where it stands today.
Pulled the back off and noticed a couple caps on the power supply bulging slightly so I thought I would start there. My question right now is what are the best caps to use in a TVs power supply?
I have worked on a lot of vintage audio, amps, test equipment, turntables and the like but in all this time I have never worked on a TV so I am asking for some suggestions from the authorities.
Thanks and awesome forum,
S
