Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
until the experts get here, i'm going to throw a vote in for main. looks too neat to be panel to me. just my thoughts though.
you can always disconnect one side of the t-con to the panel and check how it effects the pic.WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS? -
Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
the top of the screen though is different and more stable that's why i was thinking panel.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
Try to warm up with hairdryer the mainboard then switch tv on and see if it changes. Also download the service manual and search for an auto test for the panel, in the service menu, usually there's the word Pattern.Last edited by Davi.p; 11-05-2017, 07:49 AM.Comment

Even though at start-up you get that half screen bad image. That is a Main Bd issue. Me I would just replace the Main Bd.Comment

pretty rare for any modern TV to support this, unfortunately

Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
BTW for those who stumble across this thread when changing out the main board.. TV flashes green and amber LED together and repeats w/o software update.
Following Sony instructions to put .bin firmware in the folder on USB drive didn't work. Firmware .bin needs to be directly in the root directory and not in a folder. Insert USB then connect AC and hit power button and TV will start update.Last edited by kevinm34232; 11-16-2017, 11:42 PM.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
From Tom66: "(also Kevin is in the US, they don't have SCART!)" Ah ok i've forgot that, but what they used until the arrive of hdmi?
For Kevin: This is why i never suggest main board changing before doing some tests.
I don't know why you try to upgrade, it's not the cause for sure. Try to warm up the tcon chips one at a time with the soldering iron and see the effects.
I have bought this exact same model some days ago, another fault, screen fault, but i'm stuck on dismantling the screen bezel, if you have tried with success, or someone other, can you tell me how? The higher side doesn't come away! It's a very heavy beast, and i'm lonely to handle it..Last edited by Davi.p; 11-17-2017, 12:56 AM.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
So after discovering main board was not problem, removed T-con to get part #. Reinstalled T-Con and original main board and guess what... Normal picture...
Tail between legs, I scurry to next project... Lesson = don't skip the basics...Comment

Re: Sony KDL-60EX700 bad panel right?
Component video (which transmits analogue HD video up to 1080i) which is carried on five cables: luma (green), red chroma (red) and blue chroma (blue) as well as red/white for audio.
Or composite video which transmits analogue SD video up to 576i on a yellow cable with combined luminance and chrominance data, and red/white for audio.
Component video is actually decent, and many TVs still support it due to a lot of old equipment using it, generally speaking though it's depreciated in form of HDMI because it's not encrypted and has no second channel info (e.g. surround sound, ethernet over HDMI, audio return channel, consumer electronic control etc.)Please do not PM me with questions! "which is carried on five cables:...." Ah, this is what them are made for.. i never asked myself, but on all LCD tv i had i think i've seen always both SCART and 3+2 RCA, and them obviously EU version.. ah ok you say: even if they have 2 tv with scart socket they don't have scart cable..Last edited by Davi.p; 11-17-2017, 05:25 AM.Comment

by iglitareHi,
i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.
Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted... -
by r3vsEngIT65x900h with the panel from a 65x930d.
900H: model yr 2020, Samsung panel
930D: model yr 2016, Innolux panel
spec wise the panels are the same. the drivers and tcons are obviously different but what made me want to give this a try is that the wiring diagrams for the data signals going into the tcon for each tv were nearly identical. there are only a couple pins that i am unsure about and that is what brings me here.
the 930d has the DPS board where the 900h has none, however, if you follow the pins to the BM1 it would appear that the signals...07-11-2023, 11:11 AM -
by guidodroidHello all,
I'm trying to understand what is the issue with my 26 months old Sony Bravia KD-65XG8505 (XBR65X850G).
It is just few months out of warranty, so Sony doesn't want to do anything, and the local replacement shop also tells me that it's not worth repairing (alhtough this model costed almost 1000 euros just 2 years ago...).
Few nights ago the TV started showing some horizontal lines and distorted colors/geometries in the bottom part of the screen (see attached photos).
The issue is not as bad as others that I've seen around, but is indeed noticeable... -
by PlanBHello everybody,
I need your expertise if my asumption about the failure of this TV is correct.
A Sony KDL-55W828B only shows vertical red stripes that vanish to the top when switched on.
When only the right side of the LCD is plugged into the T-CON board the right side shows a good image, while the left side is white.
When only the left side of the LCD is plugged into the T-CON board the LCD shows a complete white image.
I checked some signals on the T-CON board but was not able to find something strange. Then I checked the the caps... -
by swrb898What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.
Problem:
Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.
My troubleshooting got me this far:
With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable... - Loading...
