    Vizio LED Panel Swap

Hi! I have an M70-D3 series Vizio with a cracked screen. I've had it apart which seems easy enough but was wondering if other 70" LEDs (seem to have the same resolution) from the Vizio line are compatible.

I guess the question is, are the LED panels more or less the same, and the main differences in models software/hardware/accessory based?

May be a basic question but I appreciate the advice. The donor model would be a D70-DC in this case.

    Thanks!

You need to look up the spec sheet of the LCD panel to find out what the requirement are for the LEDs'

If the Panel Nos. on donor and recipient match then yes it may work. Then look at the T-CON Bds are they different or the same? The T-CON Bd has software and may be different if the T-CON Bds are different.

        Re: Vizio LED Panel Swap

        Thanks so far.

As far as the panel numbers, I tried looking for part numbers online but hit a dead end. I figured I'd look up the part number for the M70 & D70 and see if they matched but couldn't find anything.

Is there a reference out there for Vizio LED Panel Part #'s or specifications that I might have missed on this Forum or elsewhere?

I can probably try to google images of both model tcon boards on both models to see if the connectors are similar.

Physically look at the panel or on the chassis there may be a sticker with the info you want....searching on-line WILL bring you no results.

            Re: Vizio LED Panel Swap

Looked at the TCON boards across both models - M70 has 4 connectors whereas D70 has 2 connectors. So the connectors would be different across both model's panels (different panels basically).

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel
              by howardc64
              Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

              Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio M557-G0 1/2 panel VGHD LC1 (and maybe XON VSSQ LC2) Problems
              by howardc64
              Failure Symptom

No Display. Just random blocks of grouped vertical red lines.
Disconnect right 1/2 panel (rear view), left 1/2 displays properly

              Masking T-Con Signal Diagnostic

Reduced masking to 5 signals on right 1/2 panel and get perfect picture

              Pins are

              1 GND
              2 VGHD
              3 XON
              4 VSSQ
              5 LC2
              6 LC1

VGHD and LC1 masking is absolutely necessary to get working panel. Didn't unmask 3-5 individually.

Putting LCD panel from Vizio TV into another brand TV
              by frannyjunk
I have a Vizio P502UI-B1 50" tv and baked the main board a little too much (to reflow BGA) resulting in a dead tv. I would like to use the Vizio LCD panel in another tv. Someone in the P502UI-B1 thread said he/she was able to take that Vizio LCD panel and put it into an LG 50UH5530 and it worked. Looking at the Tcon boards from the 2 tv's show different model boards (LG = EAMDJ2S55 while the Vizio tcon = V500DK2-CKS2). I have since looked up tv's that uses the V500DK2-CKS2 Tcon board (Hisense 50H7GB, Vizio P502-B1E & M50-C1, Westinghouse WD50UT4490, and a few others). Does this mean any...

I though there may be something wrong with the panel voltages.

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
              by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...
