buddy sent me a sony with he four blink error code...couldn't find any info on it...wondering if its like a 32l4000....well i crack it open an check it out...if anyone has any info ...thanks...

Its the Canadian version of the 4000.

anyone have info on the error codes....been looking around but cant find them for this tv...it turns on for a sec...black light comes on for a sec...turns off then four red flashes.....

could not find any info on error codes anywhere...if you ask sony all they tell you is to go to a service rep for repair...backights do light up..but dont know if one is blown..what does this tv use...ccl bulbs?

Generally if the backlights light up then they tend to be OK. However look carefully to see if there is a dark band where one may not be lighting up.

Without any voltage readings it's hard to tell what the fault is. Do you have any photo's of your boards.


You could try freezing the EEprom on the mainboard and then switch on in case it's a problem with that IC

Per service manual this model does not use error code so that blinking light is not error code.
We need pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards and pictures of each board.

ok,,i guess that makes sense..lol..thats why i couldint find them....will be taking it apart tommorow..test out the boards....

What's the board number for the inverter.

It looks like Samsung LCD panel and Samsung Inverter board.

There should be labels for the control signal pins on that inverter board connector: BL-ON (INV-ON), DIM, PWM-DIM.
See what DC Volt you get on those pin, I assume you do get the 24VDC.

BTW, are you 100% sure that you do not notice that the backlights come on for seconds when you first turn on the TV?

Post #3 says they come on and then go off so it's possibly a tube or inverter board fault.
What voltages do you have on the 14 pin connector on the inverter board.
What is the IC number in the middle of the board.

I would check the resistance of the High Voltage windings of the Inveter transformers. Also check those two large lytics caps laying on its side.
