VISIO XVT472SV display has Smokey shadows/stains

All,
Any idea what could be causing this issue (see attached pics)? Or is it the age of the display panel and the solution is to purchase a new TV?

I've seen lcd panels go like that due to ageing. However if it comes from a home with heavy smokers then it may be nicotine behind the lcd panel or filter sheets.

Dick,
Thanks for the reply. No smokers here but it could be as you say a film behind the panel or filter sheets. Would you recommend disassembling and trying to clean it then putting it back together?

Search the forum for "Mura", perhaps this is what you are dealing with.

I have seen this problem before too, and it was bad LCD glass panel. I took the panel apart to check each layers and they are clean without any sign of stain or moisture, it will get worst with time.

I would agree that it's probably the Mura effect so I doubt you have anything to lose stripping down the panel and checking the reflectors, back of lcd panel etc are clean.
If you do strip it down then be careful to keep the order of the sheets so that they are reassembled exactly as removed.

Bad panel or bad mainboard? Visio E601i-A3

Visio E601i-A3
Tv powers on and input is able to be selected/used, but the on screen menu closes as soon as it is opened and the there are some periodic "glitches" of the on screen menus in relation to position and size. I have tried all the system resets, but because the menus are not usable, i was unsuccessful. Does this seem like a panel issue? Odd that it only affects the menus and not the main input picture. I have already tried disconnecting front panel buttons assuming one was stuck down causing the input to continually be scanned or similar.

Visio M70-C3 LED replacement strips
by mc900fthanna
So... I have the patchy back light issue with my Visio M70, meaning some light up, others do not. I finally got around to testing the LED driver board and found that was not the issue (swapped another one in and the same issue persisted) and I am considering if i dare dive deeper into this TV and go after the LED strips.

Right away i see that they don't seem to stock them anywhere out there (E700DLB0016-002) is a part number that i see a you tube / seller guy list out. He has a nice video of how to get into my exact TV out there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AcUPiN83Tg

Visio V755-G4 LED TV: No backlight, have sound, see menu with light.
by Grasshopper2Ant
No backlight issue. Have sound and can see menu with flashlight.

Suspect LED driver, voltages are 100V each side. What should the voltages be for 75 inch TV on the Power Supply Board? I have 96 leds x3 volts per=288/2=144 volt per side?
Am I low on my volts causing the leds not to light up?

Before I got all backlights out, the right side was a bit darker than left side. How many leds
need to be out for all to not work?

Thinking of getting a led tester. If leds light up, would that confirm it is the Power Supply Board?

I do not want...

Visio VP322 vertical black bar
by jose6326
Its been a long time since i been on here.

Anyway i searched the model number but no threads on this issue

I pulled this unit out of my companys electronics recycling bin
Wouldnt turn on so after opening it up discovered 2 bad caps
Replaced the 2 caps harvested from a different psu which where the same brand and rating .
I only did this to determine if the unit would power up which it did.

it has a vertical black bar and I dont recall if the issue is due to a bad tab bond or a faulty chip.

Is this repairable or should...

Sharp 80" lc-80le661u dark spots/shadows
by Javiercity
Hello there i have a Sharp 80" LDC that has some dark spots in the middle of the screen, since its a 80 inch need another person so hang it on the wall or move it around, so i hope the collective wisdom can help me to determine what is wrong, I've been doing some research online and there is next to nothing about this TV, i tend to believe that the spots are due the back films/diffuser sheets, that are bit dirty, or perhaps one or two LEDs being burned, but what throws me off is that the dark spots are more noticeable when the image is bit dark like night scenes, and also noticeable when...
