This set belonging to an older chap displays a single pixel width black line horizontal across the screen side to side and exactly in the middle. Have tried cleaning buffer screen feeds and putting ribbons out/in various times and getting several variations in display for the area concerned but when all that goes away still left with the single pixel line. Understand it could be a screen attachment problem but no response of any kind when putting what pressure I can in that area. The logic looks to be in main. All else with set is good. The line is visible all the time including menu display. Ideas.....???

i might be off here, but check the buffer boards for an open line that matches the area of screen that you are missing.WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS? -
Re: AWA CM-P42LC1 buffer problem ? Or...
What I find interesting is the line appears to be exactly in mid screen as if the upper and lower sections are not quite coming together which is why I mentioned logic board. Should have also said Vs and Va were close but I tweaked them and also checked other adjusters. Thanks attainteddragon what is the check procedure for buffers?Comment

Re: AWA CM-P42LC1 buffer problem ? Or...
Found a buffer board for sale by a tech but when I talked to him and described problem he advised that in his experience this problem was in almost all cases due to fault at screen. I had taken board out and gone all over it not finding any problem then reseated all ribbons after cleaning and checking them and trying again and again reseating the two near centre line all to no avail as thin black line came up every time. Took tech advice as solid and have written the set off. Noted it is actually LG bearing the AWA brand and first post should read control board is in behind the main.Comment

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by jimjoe123I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.
Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.
Then each time... -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... - Loading...
