    vizio

I have a vizio vw42LFHDTV10A that when plugged in will show amber vizio logo but will not turn on, I have replaced both the main and power boards, still the same results. I saw a burnt place on main board is the reason I replaced it thinking it was bad, then when that didn't work I replaced the power board and still the same results. I do not see any bulged capacitors on either of the "new" used boards. any help appreciated

We need good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards and then straight shot pictures of the top and bottom sides for power supply board and main board.
What Voltages testing have you done before replacing the boards?

OK, you need to read this:

So you will understand a little bit more as to why you do not have the 12V, 24V.

              Re: vizio

With all the original boards connected then you should find out if the main board is sending the PS-ON signal (>2.5VDC = ON, <1V = OFF) or not when power switch is activated, if not then you will look at the main board to find out why.

markmac3; If you replaced power supply and Main board and still no pic,you may try to replace the inverter boards, also could be any of the boards you replaced could be faulty too.

I am hoping it's not inverter, but if it is they are only$20. If I would like to figure out which one it is, hopefully budm will chime in with more troubleshooting tips. I got 2 mains and 2 power boards, plenty of spare parts.lol

Well; it could be also T- con board,or just the T- con board SM fuse ,but the best way to be helped by the Experts like Budm and others here is to follow their instructions to the teeth, here is the service manual.I also have same Vizio model that i fixed by replacing the 2 Caps on the Inverter board, but my issue was different tv would power up but acted strange,
I've also fixed another vizio different model that had same issue as yours and it was a adjustably 1117 regulator on the main board, you should type vizio ; your model# on this Forum Bad Caps Search on top and there are many issues similar to yours,i'm no expert like most of the guys here but I've repaired a few TVs here with the help of these outstanding folks here but you have to know some thing in order to understand instructions, other than that you are left with changing boards which is very expensive and it's not worth it,some times a simple transistor ,caps,or resistors or other cheap part is all it takes, that costs just a few bucks and you are ordering boards at will for nothing.if you need anything just ask, good luck.

Thanks for the input ivtec! I like messing around with electronics, not schooled in it or anything, just like learning. I hope I didn't buy some bad boards, company I got them from, tvpartsguy, seem legit. I'm only seeing 3 boards on the back of tv, power, main and what I thought was inverter, at top of panel. Where is Tcon board?

also just checked power going to what I think is inverter board(smallest board) and getting 12vdc from pins 7 and 8. so it looks like im getting voltage to inverter, this is from the main board, checked fuse on inverter board also and it is good......ok im a dumbass. I had meter set on reading capacitors. no voltage going to inverter on any pins.

the big green board is the main board, the yellow/brown board to the right of the main board is the power supply-inverter combo board, the small green board to the right of the power supply-inverter board is the T-CON board.
The small green board on the bottom left is sub-input board. There should be another mall board where the power switch is located, we need to verify t hat the power switch is sending the signal to the main board or not, if it does not then there will be no PS-ON to be sent to the power supply-inverter board.

Right now Op has no PS-ON so there will be no 12V to test.
