    Vizio E470i-A0

I recently acquired a Vizio e420i-a0 that isn't working properly. I have searched the forums and found somewhat similar scenarios as I'm encountering, but not completely the same. When I have the tv plugged in I cannot see any power indicators on anywhere. The only sign of life at first glance is the optical port is lit up red on the backside of the tv. However, in a completely dark room, when I switch the power on, I can actually see the power indicator light come on, but it is very dim and hard to notice even in the dark. Also, I can very faintly see the screen flash with the V logo, then black, then flash again and I can see the No Input message on screen etc. It will continue flashing like this every few seconds indefinitely. At the same time as a flash occurs, the power indicator light will fade in unison, then return to it's solid dim illumination.

I had read in another thread someone's same model would flash once then go black and stay black, and it turned out to be bad backlights. I haven't tested anything on this set as of yet, however I'm not ruling out backlights, but I'm also not jumping to that conclusion yet. I say this because generally, the over current protection kicks in right away and shuts off the set when backlights are bad. In this case, the tv doesn't shut off, it just flashes. The fact that the power indicator light is also extremely dim and fades with the screen flashes makes me think it is a power supply issue, perhaps bad capacitors.

Does this sound like a power supply issue? Or just an unusual case of bad backlights?

    Re: Vizio E420i-A0

you really nee to open it up, post some pics and take some voltage measurements.

being a visio, it can also be ldo regulators or eeprom.

I apologize, I have the E470i-A0. I cannot edit my first post to make the correction though.

I forgot to mention that I do not need a flashlight to see the screen when it flashes on.. I only need the room to be dark.

You should take the screen out and test the LEDs. Even though it is lighting up the LEDs can still be bad. A lot of times they do not burn out all the way but go dim. It is usually 1 to 3 LEDs that cause all of them to light dimly. Power surges and turning the brightness up too high cause these problems.

i think i left you a message about this tv on another post that you left.

to continue, you really need to get the back off and start getting some measurements.

            VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
            by bpcannan
            'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

            Vizio-D50u-D1 Pulsating Backlights
            by csmith
This Vizio came in the shop with no backlights. Replaced all the strips with replacement from Shop Jimmy. Set now has backlights but lights pulsate on left side. Half the screen brightens up then goes to normal then repeats.
Am I looking at a defective strip? Thanks in advance.

Vizio E48-D0 Backlight flash, backlights/connections confirmed good.
            by DXseekerMO
Hello everyone, I've had this TV for almost 6 months now, just sitting in the fix-it room and it would be great to get this finished up.

It sounds like the typical Vizio complaint….hit the power button, backlights flash, image on screen but no picture with sound…so what do I do? Order backlights from SJ without taking a single voltage reading. Apparently my “jaundiced eye” over-rode my need to do a diagnostic. This was a mistake.

Install SJ backlights….problem still exists. Check all connections and connectors….no happy. When the backlights flash…they...

[Help] Lenovo Yoga Slim 7-14ARE05 (DA0LS3MBAF0) – 25Q80DVN1G Flash Is All FF, USB-C PD Stuck at 5V
            by ekozeko333
            Hi all,
I’m trying to recover a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7-14ARE05 with board DA0LS3MBAF0 Rev:F. I’ve run into an unusual issue where USB-C PD is stuck at 4.7–5V and the system won’t boot (keyboard lights flash briefly, then nothing).
🔥 The Problem Started After Suspected ESD/PD Fault
I experienced a power issue or ESD event through a USB-C charger
After that, the NX20P5090 power switch was visibly burned and was replaced
Now the PD controller always negotiates 5V @ 2A, even with known-good chargers
🧠 What I’ve Done So Far
            Flashed...

            Replacing backlights in Vizio V755-J04
            by x_orange90_x
I've had this monster for several months as I've hesitated to order backlights for it. Finally did order them and they are due to arrive tomorrow. Besides having ample space to work, are there any recommendations for working on such a massive screen? Should I remove the panel by myself or would 2 people be a better choice? I bought the double-cup suction cups from Harbor Freight and have been using them for the last few repairs on smaller screens. They are far superior to the single cup orange ones I used previously that would often let go without warning 😱.

            I have not replaced...
