Vizio E550i-B2 LCD Pulses Power Light

I'm working on this Vizio flatpanel, but am having a bit of trouble with it. What happens is that after the power button is toggled, the white light comes on and just pulses. It never powers up. No backlight, nothing on the screen (after analysis by flashlight).

I opened it up and visually inspected everything. Nothing looks off. The voltages seem okay too. 5Volt Standby is good, Reg 20V & Reg 12V are relatively stable, AC_OFF_DET cycles between 3volts and nothing.

Even in this state, it still responds to the power-off command from the remote.

    Any ideas?

If you search the threads you will probably find that there are bad solder joints on both boards where the Black linking connector is that connects the two boards together.

I would be tracing back the AC_Det line to see why it is jumping around. Maybe one of the resistors in the chain needs to be replaced or an opto-isolator malfunctioning.
Hard to know without the schematic.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Relatively stable voltages usually spell problems
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Good find! That was exactly what was ailing this one, as it turns out. Every single point of contact for that connector between the backlight board and the power supply (on the power supply board only) was broken. Put down fresh solder and hot-glued the connector for better rigidity and it fires right up now.

Vizio E550i-A0 no power, no standby light
                by x_orange90_x
I have a Vizio E550i-A0 that will not power on. It also does not display the standby light in the corner. I disconnected the main board cable to see if the backlights would light but they did not (maybe this is normal for this set?). I checked the voltages on the plug and they all read in mV or 0, so there's no voltage there. The fuses are ok, and the voltages of the 450v caps read about 160v. I see no visual damage on either the power supply or main board. I have read online that the main board is usually the culprit in this model, but not getting backlights with the main disconnected makes me...

Lithonia Lighting versus Light of America Compact Fluorescent product quality
                by sam_sam_sam
I have a Lithonia Lighting 65-Watt Gray Hardwired Compact Fluorescent

I also have back when Light of America had these light bulbs available for yard lights

The issue with Light of America was the blast boards had all most certain board failure while bulbs hardly ever fail

While the Lithonia lighting fixture has all most certain bulb failure

So I have modified the Lithonia lighting fixture to accept the Light of America light bulb and see how long this will last

I have only had this light fixture for not more than a year if it...
