I picked up this 42" plasma TV cheap. She was dead. No stand light or anything. I checked the power board and she was dead. Started checking for shorts and found a lot. Once I hit a certain price for parts while checking I decided to order a used power board from a reputable company. I put the board in and the TV fires right up. After running the TV for about 2 hours I noticed the left side (when facing the TV) is extremely hot. The other sides is barely warm. I know this is not normal. Any ideas on why and what to look for?

Re: 42PC5DC extremely hot left side (when facing tv)
What ???
Is the OP talking about the screen or the z and y drivers
If its the screen then there is an issue ,but do checks carefully with a digital thermometer and not just your hand . Also how much hotter ? ,the screen do get warm to the touch . If is the drivers Z and Y-sus its normal
I suspect it the TV is functioning correctly and has a good picture than all is wellComment

Re: 42PC5DC extremely hot left side (when facing tv)
The heat is from the back of the TV. The back metal cover is hot. I will fire her up tonight when I get home and hit it with the infared thermometer and post up the temps. I have a 50" (2007 vintage) on my wall and it gets warm but not hot.Comment

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by StephenRight SIDE usb.c port charges and transfers data without issue, two left side uSB c ports charge but do not receive or see data. Was liquid damaged, and repaired significantly and thought we were in the clear but appears this is the last issue that is rearing its head. I am trying to locate the RETIMER chip that communicates the DATA TX/RX but I cannot seem to find it on the schematic or maybe I am just so tired my eyes wore out lol. Any help would be great.05-29-2025, 10:35 AM

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.
When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.
I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped... -
by GjacksonHi all,
I have a SMEG cooktop with a EGO 72.08041.002 power board. The two left hand side cooktops started to slowly fail, sometimes stopping with an EA error (Power board failure according to the manual) after a couple minutes boiling some water and eventually they completely failed and now get an EA error on both of them at all times. Visual inspection of the board went over ok, I checked the IGBT's and rectifiers and they seem fine, what should I look at next as this is the first time I'm fixing an induction cooker, I'm suspecting capacitors in this case, Which ones should I look... - Loading...
