    RCA LED55C55R12 No Power/Standby

Not getting and power/standby light at all with this one. 5V standby is showing 4.94. All 5 volt lines are showing 4.94 and 12 volt lines are showing 12.5. The ON/OFF line is about 4.5.

I thought I found a shorted voltage regulator on the main board. When I took it off the board to remeasure, it looked fine. The short is still showing up between just the bare solder pads. Getting short between UW1 and UW2 in the picture attached. Is this normal for some of these regulators? Where should I go from there?

There are literally no main boards anywhere for this model unfortunately.

check the ceramic caps for shorts that match the pins the ones that you currently see shorted.
looks like the pair the the right of the regulator.
remove from circuit, retest the caps and the pcb to see if the short has gone.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

So what is the resistance reading on that 'Shorted circuit'? <1 Ohm?
What is the P/N of that regulator?

Removed the pair to the right, but short is still there.

The resistance between the shorted circuit leads moves around between 0.7-1.0 ohm. The part number for that regulator is LD1117AC 33AQQLTT.

If you have external power supply you can inject 3.3v current limited and check for component getting hot.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Don't have an external power supply on hand.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Sony Bravia XBR-65x900f: No Power, No Standby-light - however 3.3v STBY is present
                by SkishyIshy
                Hey All,

                I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.

I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate...

I have been wanting to do this project for some time using a Mean-well switching power supply that I bought at least ten of them that were originally in a device that was abandoned for some reason they were listed new but removed from equipment that was never used

I do not understand Mean-well the capacitor next to the voltage reference ic chip was a brand that is known for failure over time the other capacitors are brand name needless to say it got replaced before I even powered it on for the first time

I used a four USB outlet and electrical plate that is made for...

                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

LG 55EG910V - no power and no standby light
                by AleMonti
                Hi everyone,
I'm trying to troubleshoot and repair this old LG OLED curved TV, model 55EG910V.
I did some basic troubleshooting and reviewed most related posts here, but I wasn't able to isolate the issue.

The TV shut itself off during playback and never came back to life - the standby light remains off. My dad claims that it has happened a few times in the past but the issue resolved itself after some time. Not this one.

After checking the basics I did the following:
                • I measured all voltages and as expected the only active supply is the 3.5V standby. It
