    weird Samsung Plasma Issue

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It goes away on it's own then comes back and stays for extended periods. Going to pick it up today. More specific info to come. Thanks To All.

since there is moving lines on the panel, it might just be a case of cleaning and reseating the corresponding panel cable that goes to the lower buffer (whatever they are called, not y buffer).

WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

I noticed that the outer housings of both hdmi connectors on main board are very loose..they actually move quite a bit. Are they supposed to be soldered or screwed down...there are two holes one on each side of the port that look like maybe they were supposed to be screwed down..could this be from poor connection between hdmi cable and port?

Thank You for taking the time to reply!

The hdmi connectors are only held to the board with the connectors pins and the two heavier pins on either side, once the back cover is on there should be 2 fine thread screws for each connector that prevent it from moving around.

I resoldered all the hold downs for the hdmi sockets..rock solid now. One of the main ICs on the logic board was sooo hot you could not touch it.
Replaced the logic board and we are in our 24 hour burn in now..so far so good..a couple hours in no issues..and it's 96 degrees here...so it's really getting a heat test.

          Thanks to all

12 hours and no more panel disruption..I think the IC on the logic board was the issue..good deal!

Looks like you may be right on the ribbon cable...after two 12 hour burns, Now I get this distortion. It is different from original distortion so the logic board was not in vain. I guess I'll take it back apart further and clean /reseat the lower ribbon cable in the area of the distortion.

                  Aaaarrgh!

                  Thx to all

                    Re: weird Samsung Plasma Issue

a clean with some iso or a rubbing with an eraser should hopefully fix it up.

Well sports fans..I am afraid this is the chip embedded on the panel ribbon cable. Still comes back to varying degrees after a long burn..say 8 hrs. Then it's fairly often after that. Stripped it down to the panel ribbons and all have heat sink pads that are still good on the cover. I did apply iso to the ribbons in question but they look like they are bonded down to the board. Also cleaned both ends both ribbons from logic board.

                      Thanks to all.
