    Vizio VS42LFHDTV10A 42" TV Shadow

    Hi guys,
I picked up this TV from a friend who complained that it has weird symptoms. To describe, when unplugged for a long time, then plug back in, menu colors sometimes get smeared - like colors are bleeding outside the window. Left it plugged in and it started working fine all night. Today I turned it on and I could tell the screen was darker, and almost a dark shadow moved from right to left - then vertical colorful lines / white band shows on the left hand side of the screen - within a minute or two all goes away and the screen is great.. no issues.. could this be bad caps? I didn't see a kit on ShopJimmy

    Help is appreciated.

Here you go.. I've had TVs that have panel defects (tabs issue) but this is not remotely close.. it does get better with twisting the TV, but yesterday when it worked fine, twisting the screen didn't do anything

Most likely panel issue you may be able to apply pressure to tab bonds or neuter traces going to panel or butcher the side tabs but i'll let the experts chime in on that.

Thanks heavymachines ... so I took it appart again.. and as soon as I did that I can't make it happen again - TV starts and functions beautifully. I took the front metal brackets covering the tabs off.. and I can't do anything to these tabs to make them cause the issue again.. I'm unable to find a tab that makes a difference if pressure is applied or removed.. I'm guessing as soon as I put the 500thousands screws back in, it will do the same again!

It's like magic.. I take the screws off, and all is perfect.. I put the cover on, and it starts all over again

with the tabs exposed, run your finger over each cof chip and where each ribbon attaches to the screen. you will see which one alters the pic and might be able to rig it up with a varying amount of pressure around it to keep the pic clean.

I have attempted that Attainteddragon... I couldn't get any reaction of moving my fingers across the tabs or doing anything to get this TV to misbehave As soon as I put the screws of the back cover in, then the fun starts

it has to be pressure related, so it is just finding the right pressure. did you apply pressure to the where it is bonded to the screen. i have seen several with failure points there.

I did, both to the bonding side and the board side.. I really couldn't get it to misbehave with the cover off at all.. twisting or anything else that I've seen typical of bonding issues, is not having any effect

try using a hair dryer and aim hot air at the tab bonds it may show you which ones at fault im sure someone on here in a diffrent thread diagnosed bad tab bonds with heat

Vizio TV M50-C1 reboot cycle and static on screen
                            by spice_disc
I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
                            by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

Panasonic Tx-40cx400b top left half screen not displaying correct
                            by armoured_smiler
                            Hi,

Trying to work out if this is TFT problem or TCon issue.
The TV powers up but the top half of the screen, from the right it is OK, but as you look across to the left halfway across it starts get duller and duller until it is very dark on the lefthand side, currently I trying to clean the remote as it seems to have something film wise on the pads stopping it from registering buttons pressed.

Also when changing the screen size of Windows PC display to say to a smaller pixel sizewindow, the original window displayin the top left stays/takes a few seconds to disappear?...

Vizio M60-C3 left side of screen + a couple other areas dim
                            by frannyjunk
My Vizio M60-C3 was dead. No power, no lights. Just nothing. So I took the back cover off and noticed 4 bulging caps on the power supply board, so I replaced them (green low esr capacitors in the picture). The tv now works! But there are some areas that look dim (see picture). In particular, the left side has a dim band. I know that the led strips run horizontal, yet this band is vertical. Could it be that the led driver board is bad? Could the blown caps have taken out the led driver board? Or is this just a coincidence that every left side led on each strip just went out?...
