    Vizio E470VL - Horizontal Static/Wavy Lines

Anyone seen this before? I bought this on craigslist as a patio TV and the owner showed me the startup screen as proof the pic was OK. I get it home, start trying inputs and every single one has these static/wavy lines (not just the TV input in the video). Tried different HDMI/Coax/Component/Power cables and well as different power outlets in different rooms. Same thing at each outlet. I opened it up and didn't see anything obvious (no blown caps/loose wires/black spots/broken solder lines/etc).

Intro screen (which I wrongly assumed meant the screen was fine)

i would think that it is either t-con or main.
disconnect a ribbon cable that goes to the panel, one side at a time, check if the picture clears with 1 half disconnected.

Tried both ribbons, no change. Half white screen, half picture with lines. Any idea how to narrow it down to the t-con or the main?

since the lines have persisted on both halves of the t-con, i would think that it is caused from the main board.

does it show up over the menu screen as well?

might be hard to sort this down to a component. peeps with more knowledge than myself might have more ideas.

you can do a couple of things to try to narrow it down a bit.
apply pressure to the main with the handle of a screwdriver and see if there is any change.

you can heat the board with a hair dryer to see if it alters the picture at all.
freezing ic's would be the next step. try these things and see if you get ant change in the picture.
