LC-60E78UN No picture, backlight, no flashlight

    I have a Sharp LC-60E78UN and here's what I've done:

Had a bad power supply (no standby) and found a cheap one on ebay. Now with the good supply, I am getting blink codes OPC/Power one blink, Power two blinks and then it repeats the cycle.

The power supply tries to turn on before I get the blink codes. If I force the power supply on with a 1k resistor between pin 11 labeled BU5V on main ps connector and both the PS_ON and PNL_POW, I get good voltages but NO BACKLIGHT. Here are the voltages:

    LA1
    Pin 1-5 INV24V1 24.43
    Pin 6-10 SGND3 0

    LA2
    Pin 1-5 INV24V1 24.43
    Pin 6-10 SGND3 0

    PD
    Pin
    1 S14.3V - 14.34
    2 S14.3V - 14.34
    3 UR14.3V - 14.34
    4 UR14.3V - 14.34
    5 SGND5 - 0
    6 SGND5 - 0
    7 SGND - 0
    8 SGND - 0
    9 AC_DET - 3.2
    10 PS_ON - 4.6
    11 BU5V - 5.03
    12 PNL_POW - 4.6

    PL
    1 PNL12V - 11.99
    2 PNL12V - 11.99
    3 SGND - 0
    4 SGND - 0

I checked the transformers on the inverters. All are 6.3k +/- 2%.

So I'm leaning towards the main but don't have the schematics.

On a side note, is anyone else having a problem searching the forums posts? I will search for a part or tv model and I get way more results than I used to. Maybe I have a setting wrong of something.

What are you getting on pin 10 and 12 when you power it on
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

      Pin 10 -- 2.86v
Pin 12 -- when the relays click, it hits .4-.8 and
then fades to .15 even both in normal condition
      and with the t-con disconnected

i'm not saying that you don't have an issue with your main board, but if you jumped your ps on and you had all voltages present, but no back lights, then you will have an inverter fault. there should be a fuse on the inverter board just near the connector. check it to see if it is open.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

"12 PNL_POW - 4.6" That is not for the Backlights on/off, it is for switched 12v for running the T-CON board.
The BL-ON and Dimming signals are not routed through the power supply, it is connected directly to the left inverter board directly from the main board, you can see a connector on the main board with only 2 or 3 gray wires on that connector that goes to the Inverter board.
BTW, we need good clear pictures of the inverter boards, especially around the connector. There should be some fuses on the inverter boards too. Did you already check those connectors that link the inverter boards together?

Re: LC-60E78UN No picture, backlight, no flashlight

A friend of mine just got this exact TV, and it's doing the exact same thing...power and opc lights blink once (together), then the power blinks once...repeat. I too am having trouble finding the error codes online (really hope someone would post them). I could really use some guidance as to where to concentrate on finding the problem. I did notice the date on the last post, but am still hopeful. Thanks.

Did not understand your blink code, what exactly is it doing blink wise, upon plug in and or upon power on attempt?

                  Unplug the television.
Press and hold the "Channel Down" and "Input" buttons on the panel.
Plug the television back in while holding down these buttons. ...
Keep holding the buttons until the television powers back on. ...
Use the remote to navigate the "Service Mode" menu and select "Factory Reset" from the menu, see if that solves it.

When it gets plugged-in, the power light comes on...then there's a click the power light goes out...the power and opc light blink once at the same time...the power light blinks one time (by itself)...the pattern repeats itself...

Already tried that, the TV will NOT light up. The blinking light pattern (described above) starts back up.

I wasn't out to piss anyone off first of all, and secondly, at the time, I wasn't allowed to post a new thread (so, talk about manners).

Yes I know TV repair can't be learned in an hour and that nobody's getting paid anything (there's no need to point that out cause that's very obvious when you join up...this is a help community where everyone talks to everyone in a languane that is understanderstandable...one might know computer language while the other doesn't, one might know TV Sch??? codes, but another doesn't...so you've got to break it down to a level that is understandable for everyone, and if that's being rude (or having no manners), then respectfully you are in the wrong type of community help area.), I also know that time isn't always freely available either...all that being said, I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the the darn Service manual is telling me (which isn't very much to start with). So, sorry for lack of manners, but being straight to the point verbally with "what" the problem is, is VERY important for me to get out...that way, those that take the time to read & help can have as much info as possible.

As for the Service manual in Post #7, I've already d/l it as well as the one for the LC-60E77UN that was also posted online.

Thanks.
It's really hard to find problems as a noob. If I/we don't know about internal parts properly then we only can do power, wire, switch etc basic job for testing purpose. Otherwise, you need to go mechanic to solve this problem.

                                          Hi all,

I have been working on a Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV. On power up the backlights only briefly light up when first powered on then they go out (2 seconds to black). The flashlight test also fails. The sound works fine. Please see attached pics.

I have researched the forums a lot. I have watched the videos of trying to locate the bad CCFL or transformer and bypassing. I can't find any evidence of a bad transformer/CCFL. I verified I get 376V from the big caps to the fuse. I have used a small/cheap oscilloscope and it looks like the MOSFETs on the inverter...

Sense I found a 6 volt BMS board I decided to make a couple of them with a charging port on the side of lantern to charge the battery pack

                                          by Chris24
Hey everyone - I have a TCL 55S401 with these symptoms: powers on, has sound, and a black screen.
I tested with a flashlight and can see the TCL logo and setup screen. I did a factory reset and with a flashlight I can now see "select language."

Following instructions from Budm in a recent post for a TCL 55S405 without backlight, I did the following tests:

Power Supply to LED (pin label is under board)
Tested w/ multimeter at 200V and tv unplugged to plugged in to power on:
                                          P10 LED1+ : 0
                                          P9 LED2+ : 0>48~60>0.69

Hi all! I've got a Vizio VO42L. Plug it in, and logo flashes orange/white for a bit, then solid orange. Press power, and logo changes to white. There is no backlight.
From reading some of the posts here I thought the inverter could have been the problem, but I've replaced it and still have the same issue. I noted that shining a flashlight on the screen shows nothing, so now I'm thinking main board?

I took the following readings with the TV powered on. I also tried taking the readings with the CFL connectors unplugged - no change.

                                          Main board:
                                          Continuity across...

LED Flashlight cree xm-l t6 COB Review of power supply
                                          by sam_sam_sam
I bought a couple of flashlights from AliExpress for half way decent price

But here are some down falls of the product

The switching power supply is basically a joke

It has a optic sensor feedback but the charging voltage is controlled by a zener diode

The car charger is more of a joke it only has drop down resistor

Now as far as the battery concern the label says 2200 milliamperes not quite it only 1500 useable and tested at 1660 milliamperes

Now I like this flashlight and here why

                                          The outermost LED...
