Opened her up and multiple LEDs are out, including one complete set. New sets came in from eBay and replaced all the strands and now the TV works. Turned down the backlights immediately 😀 Glad the power supply was protected.
Thanks for the help and feedback Neil, and the link to the video which I used to to confirm your points and test/fix the TV.

Thanks Neil - that makes sense. I didn't find any bad FETs or Diodes on the PS LED driver area or elsewhere, however with the LED tester I only got ~95V on one side (42 lights) of the LED wire and no response from the other side (or 302V my tester max). Ordered a new set of lights and will take her apart. Will report what I find out. Thanks

Samsung UN58J5190 - Doesn't Power on and has Standby
Hey everyone - I have a Samsung UN58J5190 with these symptoms: Does not power on, has standby light, standby light blinks 5 times after pressing "power on." When plugged in the power supply is making a very faint ticking sound, and this goes away when pressing power on.
Following instructions from the great team here in recent posts for Samsung with similar symptoms, I did the following tests:
I tested with mainboard disconnected from power supply - backlights do not come on (symptoms no change/5 red blinks)

Opened her up and tested the LEDs. Had two LEDs out, one top strip and one on bottom strip on left side of screen. Got a replacement set of light strips (not skilled enough to replace a single LED) and went ahead and replaced them all, and now the TV works, nice and bright. Will turn the backlight down.

With LED connector unplugged from PS I get:
P9 LED2+ : 0> 68~101v > 0
and
P2 LED3- : 0 > 78~90V > 0
The PS clicks once and I get a 90v or so reading and back to 0 and then a few seconds later it clicks again and I get a 65V or so reading then back to 0

Thanks Neil, I’ve heard that is common. Figured I would rule out the PS at least first and since I didn’t get a jump in voltage was wondering what the deal was. What do you think about testing on the PS?
I’ve heard these TV LEDs are a little easier to swap so if that’s the case I’d give a go

TCL 55S401 - No Backlight (powers on, sound, flashlight image)
Hey everyone - I have a TCL 55S401 with these symptoms: powers on, has sound, and a black screen.
I tested with a flashlight and can see the TCL logo and setup screen. I did a factory reset and with a flashlight I can now see "select language."
Following instructions from Budm in a recent post for a TCL 55S405 without backlight, I did the following tests:
Power Supply to LED (pin label is under board)
Tested w/ multimeter at 200V and tv unplugged to plugged in to power on:
P10 LED1+ : 0
P9 LED2+ : 0>48~60>0.69

Cool I see it. Unfortunately don’t have the expertise to replace that IC myself. Based on your responses I think I’ll return this eat board that won’t power TV on and try for a better verified replacement. Will let you know how it works out

Thanks RJ great point - I forgot to add yes the boards are both BN94-06218B on large sticker and BN97-07157A on small sticker. The other random numbers matched (even the date) except for a a few. The eBay board looks like the heat sinks were removed and put back on so I think this board is not from a working tv.
If the board was wrong match, would the power kick off? What I’m essentially trying to narrow down is if I just have wrong/bad board, or if there is something else wrong on the other boards too (despite...

Samsung UN55F8000 BXZA - No HDMI after power surge
Hey all,
Got a Samsung UN55F8000 and the HDMI went out after a power outage. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS fine. Have tested the HDMIs with multiple wires, and other sources VGA, AV etc all still work. TV is a daily living room TV just would be nice to get HDMI back.

Thanks everyone. I fully agree- now. I think I was rushing it and there is a HUGE following for baking LG boards online that I fell for it - and probably ruined the main board in the process so won't be doing that again. These main boards are not very common and run over $100 online so I'll be passing on this one since its just a curb pick up. too bad

Got a heat gun and took out the main board, removed the heat sink, and heated up the bga chip for about a minute on low. Put it all back together and no changes.
So after baking in oven and attempting to reflow with the heat gun the TV still turns on, flashes a clean LG logo for 2 seconds, then goes blank with black screen that is back lit. All the original voltages I posted are unchanged.
I'm wondering if since the original owner received two replacement boards from LG, if the original problem lies somewhere...

After reviewimg the forum more on bga fault I went ahead and baked it in the oven, hooked it back up, and got no change to symptoms.
Maybe I didn’t do it hot/long enough? While I search for a heat gun I think I’ll bake again and see what happens.

Okay last picture and the closest I have come to a possible problem. On this small connector (P701) at the top right of power supply to the main board here is what i get with the set on:
top to bottom:
1. 0
2. 0
3. 0
4. 0
5. 0.1V (this seemed odd)
6. 3.2V
7. 3.2V
8. 0
same readings at the main board side...
