Sanyo DP55441

I have a 55" Sanyo DP5541 that acts like it's drunk. The display is sluggish and stepping thru the menus for example, cause each menu to overlap the last. The same thing happens when an hdmi signal is fed in.

Thoughts?

Did some more poking around on this drunk TV and based on lots of reading here, I at first suspected a panel issue...and maybe it still is. Then I noticed that there was no sound either so I took some voltage readings on the power board at P802 and found this:

24Vaud - 51.2v
24Vaud - 51.2v
12V - 25.9v
12V - 25.9v
Pwr - 6.3v
ACD - 0v
Dim - 3.8v
Inv - 6.3v

Have you checked your meter for accuracy? battery? What is reading on the 450v filter caps across neg and pos of cap?

Well maybe it was me who was drunk and not the tv. IDK. Kept getting the same readings until I tried a different set of leads on my meter. Then all the voltages were spot on. Went back to the original leads and voltage were still correct so I don't know. Replaced the battery in the meter just to be safe.

With that out of the way... now the voltages are right where they should be. I also found another T-Con that I had and swapped it out, but the result was the same.

So I assume I'm looking at a bad panel/bonding issue. FWIW, the panel is labeled LG.

i've asked about a similar problem on here not too long ago. was told to twist the screen and the problem got better and worse. was the tabbing going into the lcd on the left few inches. put some foam in there for pressure and still working.

Unfortunately, no amount of tab pressure made any difference. I even stood the panel on edge and waved it like a flag and no change. The picture still looked like Fairly Odd Parents meets The Matrix. Oh well. On to the next one.

You could try disconnecting the ribbon cables at t-con one at a time and see if and see what screen does.

Very interesting. Disconnect the right side and the left side of the screen looks pretty good. Slightly dark maybe, but no blur/lag. Disconnect the left side and there is no blur on the right, but the picture has a shadow and horizontal lines on the top third of the screen. Reconnect both sides of the t-con and the blur/lag is back.

I have heard of issues with bad smd caps on the pcb strips between the panel and the t-con. Seems right side has issue. Might see if component getting hot. You also may want to measure VGL voltage witch I think is responsible for removing image. It is around -5v. If low maybe being drug down by leaking cap or other component after t-con or bad panel.

Looks like a side panel tab issue. Search the threads on the Forum since the fault, symptoms, solution is well documented.
