    LG 42PC1DG Plasma picture fault

At start up there are a range of sparkle screens in a variety of colours which rotate through about every ½ second. You can see an image but it is as if it is out-of-sync. Jumps all over the place and fairly torn in appearance. Intensity seems low.

I'm sure one of you plasma experts out there can direct me as to the the board which would have failed causing this sort of dodgy imagery.

Control board or connection first choice.

Jumps all over the place --Do you mean the "No Signal" menu bar jumps ?
adjust the VSRs on the y-sustain board to see if you can get rid of the sparkle (Mark the original position before adjustment)

Yes is this just at startup or ongoing and is menu accessible?. My info is low esr SMD caps on control board can be a problem and it is important for all voltages shown on panel tag to be basically within 1v being Vs Va Vsc Ve normally plus all connectors cleaned and reseated correctly. If menu available then reset to original specs.

Thanks for all the pointers guys. I'll open it up and have a good look around. And "yes", the "No Signal" jumps all over the place, but is also quite torn in appearance; not a nice neat rectangle. I took some video and if I have no luck with the advice to date I'll post the video on YouTube. I haven't even pulled the back off yet; given what you say about sensitivity to voltages I wonder if it might be a power supply issue. Got a Sammy Plasma back into service in the weekend that had the old bulged capacitor problem. Some vintage set so maybe I'm looking at a similar issue.

I've taken the back off and nothing jumps out as obviously wrong. Damned thing is built like a battleship. I've measured Vs and Va and they are spot on. I've posted a video here demonstrating the effect I'm getting: https://youtu.be/wib4Jfc5PiY

Any immediate impressions of what the likely fault is much appreciated.

X-Main ZSUS board failure in my opinion. The jagged, or 'torn' images you are describing are exactly what you'd expect with that failure on this model. Its an X3 based plasma. Check the fuse on the ZSUS board on the right looking at the TV from the back. It will almost certainly be blown.

I watched the video you posted. I'd question a YSUS problem as well the way it's strobing but start with checking the fuse on the ZSUS first.

Fuses on X-Main Z-Sus all check out OK. There's two 4 amp cartridge types and two SMT types, all located on the bottom left hand corner of the ZSUS board.
I too was wondering if it was more a Y-Sus problem? Other than a board replacement not too sure what to go looking for or testing on the Y-Sus board?

After having a PM conversation with TW2005 I decided to canabalise the TV. It has those dreaded IPM chips and I'm pretty sure it was a Y-Sus failure.

LG Plasma TV with no picture fault finding
                      by brainbaby
                      Hi friends,
This is my first post in this forum and I hope I would fetch some of your valuable time

Let me brief, long story short..
I am working on an LG plasma TV model 42PQ30R.
                      The fault is no display.
The tv is turning on, the blue led is working, however there is no standby (red light), tv automatically going in run mode (i.e blue led)
Note: sometimes gets off automatically but it happened only once or twice.

I began my troubleshooting with the power supply, all fuse ok.
power supply ok, getting the required panel voltages...

                      by KYBOSH
Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
                      Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
                      Will start troubleshooting tonight.

                      RCA Virtuoso RHOS581SM-D Picture Fault
                      by mmartell
Picture looks stretched out and it looks like every other vertical line is not being drawn though hard to see that in the pics.

I've disconnected each half of the panel and the fault remains exact save for the disconnected side being white.

The original complaint was the tuner stopped working so the main was replaced however the new and old board exhibit the same picture defect.

Nothing is getting hot and pushing on the panel drivers effects no change in the picture.

So with that does anyone know how to enter the Service Menu on this...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                      by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                      Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                      First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                      by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                      Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...
