Hauled this out of storage and had another look at it.

Both motherboards were recovered by finding the update file on line and putting on a usb drive. When I say recovered I mean they are back to the original stretched image problem.

Looked closer at the tcon and still don't see anything wrong but it does have a 24c64 on it. Found this tcon on aliexpress and it comes in both a 2k and a 4k version I presume the difference is in the eeprom contents ? Probably doesn't matter as finding the .bin file for it would be damn near impossible I would think.

Could be the previous owner miss-matched the boards, for the tcon, you need to match up the first 15 digits of the model number on the white sticker, suppose you can match up by the panel number on the same sticker.

The tcon sticker matches the panel sticker right down to the revision number (C2) that's why I was wondering if the po somehow put in the 2k version instead of 4k. But looking at it again there is an empty slot for another connector that is used for 2k so probably not that either. So possible bad flash or failed tcon in another odd way or still yet a failed panel. Can't find a similar "failure" on the web anywhere.

I can finish this one off by saying the correct Panel setting IS in the service menu and it's...

          HDMITX_VB1_4K2K_60P

This was only possible once I found the firmware file which resets the panel to the default which is wrong but good enough to navigate the Service Menu to make the changes necessary. Took a few times lol.

Great save, that was a brain teaser for sure.

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
              by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
              by stylishconsultant
              Hi All,

              Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
              by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Samsung QN75Q70TAF - Problem ON or WITHIN the Display??
              by KYBOSH
Came across a 75" QLED TV with restart-backlight no boot and it was headed to the dumpster. Asked the owner to let me have a crack at it. They said the TV went out during or soon after a thunderstorm. I noted this but didnt out too much stock into it as it could have been anything.

VERY big TV and i was worried about the display cracking during the moved as well as the repair but it was alright as i try very hard to handle with care.

In the video (zip file) you can see' as the TV tries to start up, tbere are a lot of gaps in the backlight so I immediately suspect...

              Hi all,

bit of a weird one today,
Got this set with just backlight no picture, sound etc.. works fine so mainboard and PSU are likely good. I think it's a bad panel but don't know if it's fixable, here's why:

T-CON voltages all present when both LCD ribbons are disconnected but if both are connected then most of the rails are gone (ex. VGH, VGL, HVDD)
If only one of the ribbons is connected, I do get a hazy picture from the respective side but there is a loud hum coming from the T-CON board due to what I suspect is overcurrent and the circuitry that generates...
