    Samsung pn60e550d1fxza intermittent display issues

    Hi everyone!
    To start, thanks for reading!

I have sound, but no picture - sometimes
    Pink banding - sometimes

    It presents like this:

Starting from a cold startup, TV turns on (with picture/sound) every time. However, sometimes I have pink banding.
The pink banding will either stay, or randomly go away / come back while watching the tv.
Eventually the tv image will fail, but there is still sound. Once this happens, the TV will not power back on if I use the remote or power button to turn it off and on. I have to unplug it from the wall before it will turn back on, but it comes right back on every time. Sometimes with pink banding, sometimes not. Repeating this process, the tv runs 15-30 min before failing.

    Misc info:
I see no cracks in the screen. No pops or other weird sounds or behaviors. TV will also come on after being warmed up with picture and sound every time, unless it failed and went dark(sound, no picture). If that happened, you have to unplug it and plug it back in. The TV picture seems to fail faster if I am watching a movie or anything with movement. Still images last a long time before the set turns off.

I attached a screen shot of the pink banding.

    History:
Tv failed in past, had sound but no picture. Was repaired by unknown tech, presented same problem a month later. TV sat for 18 months, and now I have it. I am trying to get in touch with this tech, but I may not be able to get details.

I have the Fast Track troubleshooting manual and I plan to crack the thing open and check voltages tonight.
ANY hints or things to look for would be great! I am an EE student and I want to learn as much as I can. I am open to fixing/diagnosing the board one piece at a time. I have a volt meter and a good understanding of soldering and volt meter use. I suspect this is a power supply issue or something with the y-main.

VS and VA are right on.

Vscan was pretty low. Starts off around -175 and drops to -160/161. Rated for -198

I have heard adjusting the vscan can buy time?

I've seen some say that its a good idea to replace the buffers when replacing y-main?

Check the YMAIN for cracked/cold solder joints.

I checked both the X & Y main for cracked/cold joints. Could not find any. The boards also look intact without burn marks, bulges, etc. I have many photos if anyone wants to see.

YSUS (vscan) starts around -175v, then drops quickly to -160v. Rated for -198 on the panel. XSUS (ve) reads about 80v, rated for 98v on the panel.

I sent both boards off for repair, but the repair center said they are both fine. Ran in an identical TV for 5 days.

I am not sure what to think. VA & VS are within 0.1 volts of what the panel is rated for, and the voltages on X&Y main were low when i tested them. Waiting for to get the X & Y main boards back now.

U5014 on the Ymain 3 surface mount ceramic caps connected to it they are 10uf 50v MLCC caps they fail causing the main controller for the Ymain smp to go weird. Change them I bet it solves it.

Just got the boards back today.

Looking closer at the board, it looks like some of these caps have been replaced in the pst.

The key cap (from my readings) C5162, was replaced with an OST RLS 10uf 50v.

              C5046 & C5160 were replaced as well. C5160 was replaced with (10uf 25v) ?????

R5214 was also removed from the circuit and put back.

I also just noticed, these are not ceramic caps.

Will this matter when replacing them? Electrolytic okay?

                Pics attached.

No needs to be ceramic as they are very low esr this type of SMP needs very low esr. Change them for ceramics looks like someone already diagnosed it and tried to fix it maybe change the Ic as well.

                    IT IS FIXED!
After some minor adjustments (VS/VSCAN), the voltages are perfect and it looks great.

To everyone who posted, thank you!

For anyone who might find this, I replaced these parts:

                        LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
                        by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                        Then each time...

Another LG Flatron W2243S-PF monitor - intermittent power issues
                        by thaphatmaster
                        Afternoon all,

Firstly, I'm glad I found this place via Mr Google.

My LG Flatron W2243S-PF has had an intermittent fault for a looooong time The fault is:

                        1. It simply turns off during use; or
                        2. refuses to turn on, and
                        3. flashes its red power light.
                        4. It sometimes does this multiple times a day;
                        5. it sometimes does this for weeks on end; and
                        6. it sometimes works completely fine, for days or weeks on end.

It's now in a period of having this fault, which is making it nigh on unusable. I am keen to repair it as I have lots of cool Nerf Gun 3d printing...

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH - Ideapad 3 well known solder joint issues
                        by Nagyesz
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH, which has started exhibiting the well-known issues of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3.

All stress tests run perfectly, and there are no performance issues. However, the solder joints are almost certainly starting to fail. If the top two screws on the back are not screwed in, moving the screen results in a BSOD or, in some cases, a slight artifact and freeze. This is a 2023 notebook..

How can I extend its lifespan? Could reflow help?

It has ryzen 5 5500h, rtx 2050, no soldered ram.

                        Example of the artifacts:
                        ...
