Sharp LC-70LE857U - Wont power on

Greetings folks! I have the Sharp Aquos 70" TV which I got from a friend of mine. When he had it, it was giving him the 2 slow flash, and then 5 fast flash error. When I got it to my house, it was giving me the one slow and one fast flash sequence. I have been reading this forum for the last 8 hours skimming for any help that would allow me to troubleshoot. I am REAL new to this, so the learning curve is gigantic. The back panel is off, and I have already tried the lamp error reset, and for a very long time, no matter what I tried, it was as if the buttons I was pushing weren't registering. I tried disconnecting the 4 ZIF socket cables from the TCON board, and reseated all the cables I could find in the TV but left the 4 cables on the TCON disconnected, and then did the VOL- and Input buttons and the backlight lit up, the first time I did it. The next time I did the same thing (this time with the ZIF cables reconnected on the TCON board, the flash code went back to a 2/5 sequence and the screen stayed dark. When I turn it off and back on again its back to the 1/1 sequence. The guy I got it from, changed out the mainboard, and the power board, and I still have the old ones. Doesn't look like the panel is broken, as I couldn't see any cracks when the back light actually came on. Component level repair isn't something I am great at, but I don't mind trying. Anyone has any suggestions or questions.. shoot them my way, hopefully I can fix this thing Thanks in advance!!

ok, so I missed one of the 4 flat ZIF cables on the TCON board, so I made sure that was seated and making a good connection... then I disconnected both of the corner cables. I still get the One long blink, and one short blink. So I did the Volume - & Input while plugging it in. Took a few seconds.. but the entire backlight lit up. Saw some vertical red stripes at first, but then it looked like a complete all lit backlight.. all nice and bright. The problem is, when I turn it off, and hit the power.. for a moment, I see a few vertical red stripes and then it just goes dark. Is this the point that I need to pull those tab boards.. off of the sides? Reset lamp driver errors? and I only see 4 drivers. I have been reading about 5? is it 5 tabs per driver? I haven't taken the drivers out yet.. just preparing myself for what I should see.

      Thanks!!

You have VERTICAL red lines or HORIZONTAL red lines ? Important distinction...

And you're supposed to disconnect one corner ribbon at a time.

Ok, so the lines that I saw were vertical. a small section of multi colors.. and then that went away.. and then the next time I started it up.. I saw some red vertical lines.. and then after a moment or two, those went away too.

the lines are probably not relevant... what is important is exactly what you have connected / disconnected at the time of the "test". As suggested, ensure that the tcon has all cables connected properly, disconnect one of the corner cables (between the bottom and side boards), turn on the set, what happens. Do the same test with the other corner cable, what it is the result?

Ok, so here goes. I have all the TCON cables connected, and disconnected the left (facing the back of the TV) corner cable, and nothing, then I reconnected it, and disconnected the right corner cable, and I get the sharp logo, and I see the K when I put it into service mode. Problem is, when I take it out of maintenance mode, it wont boot. I get the 1/1 blink sequence telling me there is a lamp error. So from what I read, it seems that the right driver will need to be peeled off. Is this what is keeping it from booting up normally without having to put it into service mode? When I try to boot it up normally, its instantly right to the 1/1 flash sequence.

                Thanks!

Did you reset the Lamp Error when you we're in service mode ?

How do I do this without having the remote? I didn't see that anywhere yet? Maybe I overlooked it.

                    Thanks again!

Page 2 I think. You'll have to use the buttons on the tv and be careful not to change anything else in there or you could render the board inop.

So I did a factory init. And the TV boots now, but the color is REALLY wacked out. TONS of red, and 3 small horizontal stripes across the bottom of the screen. I took a picture, I just have see if this post of the pic works...

I should also mention that at current state, the left side drivers are disconnected, but I have not peeled the bonds from the screen. I am getting from reading that the darkness may be from the tabs not being peeled, but how about the trails I am seeing? Is that also from the tabs not being peeled off of the LCD? That will have to be my next step.

Anyone have any suggestions about this color issue? Seems to fade from red on the left to green on the right. Is this still because I haven't peeled the bonded tabs? or could this be a TCON issue too?

                            Thanks!

I was asking if the coloration issue was related to the Tab driver issue. I will peel the tabs when I have a few moments to take the front bezel off. So I was trying to get an opinion. Seeing as how I don't do this work every day, I like to try to be ultra cautious. That's what I was waiting for.
