LG Plasma TV power supply output double the rated voltage.

Hi, I have a LG Plasma TV model 60PA6550 that will not show a picture.
The TV will click on from standby, and I have sound. The remote works for power, and volume/mute functions.
I have tried unplugging the y-sus and z-sus boards separately and together, but it doesn't change anything.

I have inspected the boards, and do not see any bulged Caps (I was hoping this would be a simple fix) The fuses are good as well.

When I test the power output, it is approximately double the rated voltage

For example, The pin for m5v actual output is 10v, the VA is supposed to be 55V but is 120v, and the VS voltages are 457v instead of 201-206 as stated on the board.

Also, when the power supply is on, the red capacitor (img_3064) is making a steady ticking noise.

My question is, Can I fix these problems either by repairing the components on the power board, or replacing it altogether? Or will the high voltages have damaged the video boards, and it won't be worth repairing any of it?

Any thoughts, questions or troubleshooting tips are appreciated!

Are you sure your meter is good?
Batteries for the meter is good?
    Set to DCV mode?
    Correct GND being used?
If you truly have double Voltages, lots of parts will be damaged.

      Budm, thanks for your reply.
I feel like an idiot, I assumed the higher voltages to be AC, with the meter switched to the correct DCV setting, the power supply does indeed have the correct voltages.

So this leaves the troubleshooting to likely be the y-sus or z-sus boards. Do you or anyone here have experience with troubleshooting them? If there is a parts kit or something I would be comfortable replacing the components, if not the entire boards are available on ebay.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Plasma Samsung PS-50C96HD Main board BN94-01223C switches off supply after few seconds
        by alltvrepairs
        Hi,
I have this almost brand new Plasma was well stored. I would like to repair it for a friend of mine.

I have noticed that it works for few seconds then switches Off the Power_ On signal. Have disconnected boards and left maion board and power supply and still the same. The power supply with PS_ON and VA signals On stays on so it is not a problem in the power supply.
Any one met this problem in the past?...

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
        by FrancescoV
        Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
        M:1.00/11107BLP
        D:?.??/????????
        O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

Samsung Plasma TV Power Supply Issue
        by lp20th
I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...

Dick Smith Q-1760 linear power supply filter capacitor question
        by Agent24
I have acquired a used Dick Smith Q-1760 power supply - although the OEM is Manson Industrial
It has at least one problem.

The voltage control potentiometer VR2, 50K is faulty - going high resistance / open circuit in the CCW end and leading to the output voltage jumping around.
I have already ordered a replacement potentiometer, so that's not an issue.

Now, I want to replace all three electrolytics on the PCB as they are CapXon and I don't trust them so much, I will replace them with something better while I've got the thing apart anyway.
        All are CapXon...
