    Lg 32pg6000

Just got one of these for £10 for a project I am doing. I am new to TVs in general apart from looking like a genius for replacing obvious bad caps.

Tries to turn on, front LED goes from red to green, then relay sound and kicks off.

On the control board there is an LED that lights green, and another one that starts flashing and then, when relay kicks, it goes off.

    Power Board.
Tested voltages of power board, all seems fine. Caps look good, but looks are not everything. Waiting for a cheap ESR meter to arrive before further investigation. Did test some diodes in circuit though, and while they were around .450 ish, a few of them were reading 1.800 ish in reverse. This I think is because they were in circuit.

From the ysus on the left there is another board on right side, quite thick wires joining them, I think that is the xsus (correct me if it is the zsus). Disconnected what I think is the xsus from the ysus. Fault remained.

Reconnected the xsus to the ysus, disconnected the ysus from the psu, fault disappeared.

Reconnected the ysus to the psu, removed the mainboard (hdmi, scart ect) from the psu, fault disappeared.

My next move is to remove the ysus board, and probe ground while running dmm across the connectors (it is a single ysus / buffer board).

Thoughts, tips, for a new to tv repair person appreciated.
Hopefully, we can get this thing rocking and I can move on to next stage of project. Which is a virtual pinball machine. As such the TV is allowed some niggly faults, as it is for the backglass and will not be watched like a TV, just for decoration. So I may have a go at replacing buffer ICs if I need to just to get something on it / and practise.

    Re: Lg 32pg6000

Today I placed a 200w load on the PSU, isolated from the ysus, still connected to the mainboard though, and it seemed to hold.
M5V on the socket to the ysus kept cycling though, between 5v and 0, for about 8 seconds each. Is this normal behaviour?

With the load off, I disconnected the mainboard from the controller board and reconnected ysus/zsus, it did not trip off with the mainboard - controller board lead out of the circuit and this gave me chance to measure some voltages on the zsus. I measured the socket on the zsus in pairs, and I noticed that too was cycling, between 109v and 0.
    Is this normal behaviour?

VSC is reading low. 114v instead of 135v.

Does this indicate Y-sus problem or is it more likely to be the power supply?

Thanks for the reply Andrew. The main board keeps calling my attention too. Saw a control board for really cheap, bought that, didn't fix. Changed a few typical capacitors on the power board, didn't fix it.

I am going to pull the mainboard, test it, and then store it if i can not get it working until a reasonably priced one comes available. Might try serial cable to see if I can somehow communicate with it, if I can then I will try to inject firmware. Other than that, its on hold.

Maybe worth giving the power supply a good warm up with a hairdrier, then power it up..the caps on these are known to be troublesome..

So the tv turns on and stays on if the y-sustain is disconnected?

Some pretty strange advice on this thread!

I say bring back the A66-701 crt-Ahh those awful Grundigs-with the slimline cabinet.Wonderful with those 12R 11w droppers...that used to fry randomly because of the leaky washers underneath those thyristors...Like how Alistair didn't mention the Pye 731..
Back on track-I mentioned the possibility of caps on the psu-As the VSC is not as low as would be expected with blown IGBT'S?..possible i suppose...But personally,I would replace the tripler,or the R5010 transistor on the cyclops psu...Wrong fuse in the plug reece?

                                  LOL.

OK, Tomorrow I start to take out the transistors and test them, or buy another t con, or freeview (currently have it connected to ESPN Caribbean downlink, hang on, nah its not that).

I do not personally think it is the PSU, but I will see if I can beg a hair dryer off one of the neighbours. In an insane way I really want to start pulling these transistors and testing them now though.

I test 'em in circuit. Look for shorted ones, less than 100 odd ohms C-E
--In fact--Its best you Dont just pull 'em out, as doing so risks damage to the part and board, plus mixing them up--They aint all the same types....

Yeah jokes aside test them before removing. Also as the buffer is part of the Ysus youalso need to test them as failed fets can damage the buffer.

                                        Ah yes--Its a 32" combo board innit!

I had one some years ago, I would replace the IGBT's, it would run for an hour--Then bang again.
Replaced lots, still bang, replaced lots more--bang again, always after some time of normal running.

Never did find just why it self-destructed so frequently, Got bored with it--scrapped it.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                                          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board

                                          Pin 02 NC
                                          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                                          Pin 04 "N/C"
                                          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                                          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                                          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                                          by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
