    60PN5700 stopped working

New poster.....hope you guys can help.

After watching football all day, the screen went blank while watching a show. It then started turning off and on by itself, with no picture or sound (internal sound was turned off as I have a sound bar).

Since then, I have tried to research the issue and came accross this fantastic site. Based on all things I have read, I have tried the following:

    - All boards connected - once turned on, snowy screen for 1 sec, turns off by itself, 2 sec later turns back on to "lighted" blank screen. No sound. Stays on until I turn it off.

    - Disconect Ysus from Zsus - same thing as above, but no snowy screen and blank screen is not "lighted". (my Ysus is connected to the Zsus, then Zsus to power supply)

    - Disconnect Z from power - same thing as Ysus disconnected.

I then came accross this posting for the same TV, with same issues: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...light=60pn5700

So I tried the EXT AUTOGEN trick and a saw a clean/clear test pattern (Bright white screen, turned off/on, then cycled through all the colors and white/black going up/down/side to side......then repeated pattern.

Does this mean that the Ysus and Zsus are fine? That the main board is the culprit? IF so, what is my next step? I can't find a replacement board anywhere. Is there a way to troubleshoot my board and fix it myself?

    Thanks,
    Dave

What you are describing is certainly a main board fault. Probably not much more you can do for troubleshooting on it yourself as you've already narrowed it down to that board. You can look for a replacement on eBay or I'd highly recommend contacting PTS electronics about repairing yours for you. I use them frequently when a board repair is over my head. They are quite speedy and reliable.

Heard back from PTS Electronics and they agree that it is most likely the main board....however, they said they can't fix my board. Anyone have any other ideas? I don't want to buy another TV.

If they cant fix it, then a replacement board is the only option. Fault-finding on an MB is a nightmare--Even for experienced engineer...

            Thanks Alastair.....

After more research, it looks like LG has a substitute part # that can be ordered from them. I am going to try it out......will report back.
