LG 37 inch lcd tv with horizontal lines.

I have an LCD LG 37 inch tv with a fault. When powered on , initially the tv works completely normally with a good clear picture and sound. After approximately 10 minutes, 2 or 3 horizontal lines appear at the very top of the screen. Within a further 30 seconds more lines rapidly appear further down the screen. ALso the picture begins to freeze aswell. SOund remains normal. After a little more time the picture is becomes very distorted throughout the whole of the screen. If powered off, the problem remains. However, if unplugged for half an hour , the picture does return to normal, but only for 10 minutes when these problems start all over again. Anyone have any ideas. I am thinking maybe the t con.

You can use a hair drier to heat the t-con prior to turning on the tv. This will help diagnosis if the t-con is heating up and failing. You could also try cooling spray to cool the t-con after it acts up to see if it return to normal faster.

        Thanks for the quick responses.
Yes reeceyburger I thought it could be the panel. The screen does look like a faulty lcd panel after it has become distorted, but I am not sure as it works perfectly for a few minutes. Usually , if an lcd panel is faulty , the problem isn,t intermittent.
I have some compressed air cans and will maybe try and spray it after the problem has started.
I think there may be a heat related issue. The problem doesn't start until the tv has been on for 10 minutes and so has become warm.
I read another thread and it suggested checking the ribbon cable from the tcon. I will get the back oof the tv tomorow and maybe check the ribbon cables and give them a clean with servisol.

I removed the back cover and tcon cover this morning. I tried using a hair dryer to warm the tcon before switching on. The result of this is that the problem kicked in quicker. The lines started to appear after 5 minutes instead of 10. I also then cooled the tcon with compressed air spray. This restored the screen to normal but only for a few minutes afer which the lines started to appear again. I am thinking that the tcon is failing when it becomes warm.

Maybe, what Tcon is it ? Possibly voltage reg falling out of spec when heated.

The tcon model number is 6870c-0247A. It also works for a Sanyo model aswell as my 37 inch LG.

I bought a used tcon from ebay this week. I have fitted it this morning and all is well with the TV. The fault has gone. SO, it was a faulty Tcon. Thanks for all contributions. The test with the compressed air confirmed it.

                      Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...

Physically bending the T-Con board creates horizontal dotted lines on OLED55CXPUA
                      by fredtred
                      Hello!
I have been trying to solve this issue the past 12 months to no avail. I have been a lurker here during that time but finally decided to post my problem and see if anybody knows a solution.

                      Problem
My tv (OLED55CXPUA) has an issue where it displays horizonal lines of dotted artifacts.

                      (See Attachment 1)

                      Self Diagnosing
After a very long troubleshooting period I traced the issue to the T-Con board. If I gently flexed/bend the board I could make the display go from GOOD to BAD and vice versa. I have ruled out the connectors/wires...

LCD Tv starts to display black horizontal lines after half an hour of use
                      by Gjackson
Hi, I have a sort of old Grundig LCD Led TV that starts to display black horizontal lines after some use. After it's been turned off for a while and cold it does not display any artifacts however after some use it starts to display some faint horizontal lines at the top of the screen and a bunch in the middle of the screen. The longer the tv is on the worse they get until they become very clearly visible. I suspect that heat has something to do with this as when the lines start to appear i notice that the tv's metal case has gotten warm. Could the T-CON start to malfunction when it starts to get...
