18 month old Samsung curved TV with screen fault

    Hello

Here we have an 18 month old Samsung curved TV with a screen fault.
Its a UE55H8000. I'm presuming its a terminal screen fault (see attached).
    Any thoughts ?

    thanks

      Thanks,

Thought as much. Poor woman is gutted, paid a lot of money for it as well. Only come with a 12 month guarantee.

Tell her to sue them, my uncle was able to get a full refund and a replacement when his 60" Sammy developed a line after 2 years. However he is very good at fighting court cases and took a lot of time on it.

Sale of goods act 1979 clearly states that goods must last a satisfactory amount of time.

Many people use this act when an appliance fails out of warranty. 18 months is not a satisfactory amount of time for a 'top of the range' TV to last.

Quoting this act and a threat of going to trading standards might get them to replace it without going to Court.

Are the tabs on the bottom on this model ? Because that's an expensive lesson learned if she was spraying glass cleaner directly on the screen.

              Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
              by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

samsung galaxy ao2s very temperamental after screen replaced
              by Chrissygizmo
Hi , I've recently replaced the screen in my Samsung galaxy ao2s, at first it wouldn't even turn on, it had the charging symbol on the screen when plugged in but the green circle wasn't going around to show it charging....
Ive eventually managed to get it on and working but it's very temperamental...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

Samsung UN55J6200AFXZA Splash Screen Comes up, goes out, screen flashes one time and then tv won't turn off.
No picture. No sound that I can tell. Backlights are on and have been checked. Flashlight test no image on screen. I replaced the Eprom chip hoping that was the problem but nothing changed.
              Please help. Thanks in advance!

Samsung UN60JU6500, stripe on left side of screen
              by valvashon
Friend sent me this picture of what their 60" Samsung from 2015 is doing. I didn't have any luck getting rid of a vertical stripe in another TV that developed one so I'm not too excited about trying to fix this one. It's mine for the asking; wish it had a dead power supply or bad backlights instead.

Is this most likely to be a connection at the circuit board or where the ribbon cable hits the screen itself?

Update: was just informed that this stripe comes and goes and has been doing this for a couple of months.

              Thanks, Val

Samsung UN55NU7300F Curved TV. Half side backlight out. Fixed by just removing the rear snap cover
              by howardc64
TV was fixed just after removing Samsung's rear snap cover.

This curved TV's construction is rather interesting. When the snapped on back is removed, rest of the TV will relax the curvature. Top of LCD panel is loose as it wants to straighten out against the slightly curved bezel. Snapped back provide most of the curvature shape. So just simple disassembly of rear cover will allow the rest of the TV frame to relax its curvature. Thats probably what fixed it but no idea which connection. 4x LEDs are edge lit.

Maybe PSU->backlight connector didn't have a good contact?...
