Vizio e320ar flickering and backlight goes out for long periods of time

I actually have the fix courtesy of user MagicSmoke and he wrote

I just got said tv off c-list today. Said would power on and work fine some days, other times power on with no backlight after V logo but had sound.

If anyone has problems like these it is because they cheaped out on ground points for the PSU and main.

2 screws for PSU on Primary side and 2 metal spring tabs held in by plastic lock spacers and then just taped down on back of panel for the secondary side.

Pic here for metal tabs on psu. http://hdtvparts.net/images/thumbs/0011676.jpeg

On the psu in this set the plastic lock spacer was not holding the metal spring tab to the psu board tightly. Causing a fault on backlight circuit shutting it down.

I found it by pressing on psu while backlight was on, the loose connection would cause the b/light to flicker.

I figured wth and soldered a wire from ground plane to the metal tab to make sure it has a good connection.

It now turns on everytime, tapping on psu has no effect on b/light and cost nothing to repair (I did add better tape to hold tabs down with).

So basically all i need to know is where exactly im soldering the wire to im not sure what a ground plane is or where its located according to the picture linked above. Please if anyone can help me as to where i need to solder this wire to fix it so i can get back to Overwatch it would be highly appreciated.

Re: Vizio e320ar flickering and backlight goes out for long periods of time

I have the same TV that was completely dead.

It turns out the mosfets that are under the power board were bad and
they are labeled as APM4030 and APM4050. Soldered to a heatsink.

So I bought pack of 5 each from ebay. Took forever since it was from another country.

Got the tv working perfect for a month and the screen is now flickering. Small tap on top of the set fixed it. Suspect a bad connection on the board.

I found another forum about that I need to reground the secondary part of the board to chassis. Cause the metal tabs are cheap and do not do not work well once the tape has been removed.

soldering ground wires from the board directly to the chassis completely fixed any of the flickering or screen shutting off

APM4030B and APM4050B seem almost impossible to find. Is there any substitute for these? Or maybe someone knows where I can buy a few? Is APM4050APU the same as APM4050B?
