    Pioneer Pro-1150HD Trap switch

I am working on a pro-1150hd that would turn on and display some writing on the screen that it was turning on. Tv would then shut off after a minute or 2 with 12 blue blinks.
I took the back off the tv and now have a trap switch failure. I am unable to turn the trap error off.
Tried display, <^<>power. Nothing happens. Using Pioneer remote CU-SD110.

    Please Help

Don't know if this will help

    From internet:
To get the TV out of "trap" mode, this is what needs to be done with the remote: Press and hold the "display" button for 1 second and then wait 7 seconds. Next press theses buttons in the following order: Left arrow, up arrow, left arrow, right arrow, and then the main power button on the remote. That's what fixed it.

      Re: Pioneer Pro-1150HD Trap switch

I have tried this process many times. I was told by someone on ebay that repairs these Main boards for the 12 blue blink errror that you cant exit the trap switch error without first fixing the Main board. He also said that his repair doesnt always fix my symptom.

Problem: TV would turn on and display message on screen "Please Wait....". After a minute to two minutes, tv would shut off and blue light blink 12x.

Does anyone have experience repairing these Main Boards? Common parts or loose connections? Hate to send a board in for repair with no guarantee.

          Re: Pioneer Pro-1150HD Trap switch

AFAIK the 9G pioneer sets did not have trap switches on any models, so are you sure you have a trap switch fault and not another code?

            Re: Pioneer Pro-1150HD Trap switch

This model refers back to this manual PDP-5080HD
I found this instruction that has a wait between pressing the display and the other buttons
            1. Press the display button then release the display button.
            2. Wait between 3 and 7 seconds
            3. Press and release the <, ^, <, >, and power buttons in sequence.

Panel will now turn on in service mode.
            4. Press muting button 3, 4 or 5 times depending on model you are working on.
Until the display shows the initialize page.
            5. Press and hold the display button until the error indicator (red LED) on
either the panel or the media receiver goes out.
            6. Exit service mode by pressing the power button on the remote.

              Re: Pioneer Pro-1150HD Trap switch

I have a post on here where I detailed how to do this reliable by counting as you're doing it. At least it worked for me reliably. Will try to find it.

There is a regulator that fails somewhat commonly but I don't know if it's used in your set and it's not on the main board it's on the tanshi (?) board. I believe this is the component being replaced by those offering the repair service on ebay. As to the name of the regulator I definitely don't have that on hand but can find out if you'd like.

                  Re: Pioneer Pro-1150HD Trap switch

Thanks for the responses. Tried multiple count sequences for trying to enter the service mode. Noticed multiple posts about counting one one- Thousand, two one-thousand and so on. None of which worked for me.
I am interested in knowing about the regulator that goes bad. If anyone has a link to a YouTube video that would be appreciated.
