    Sony KDL-52NX800 Half of Picture

    Hi Guys.

I have a Sony KDL-52NX800 that has developed the following issue. It appears intermittent... failed about a month ago, when I turned it on. I shut off, took a look in the back (at the boards), didn't see anything.

Panel issue??? I hope not, but thought I would ask anyways since I don't really see a whole lot on the web for this model. Maybe it wasn't a common model back in 2008(ish).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you already try reseating both ends of the cables between the T-CON and the LCD panels?

I'm going with T-con based on a similar issue I had with the 46" version and also another issue that my friend had with the same 52" one you're looking at. The 46" I fixed had a split screen problem. Not as defined as yours but exactly 1/2 was distorted. Same side as yours. The 52" my friend had was experiencing odd ghostly looking lines throughout the screen but it too was a t-con issue. Sharp Panel in this series BTW.

Thanks guys. I will try reseating the cables from the T-con first... if that doesn't do it, maybe I'll order up a T-con board.

I was wondering (and hoping) it wasn't a tab bond issue... like I had with a 52" XBR series a couple years ago... where the screen was split, but that has 'ghosting' too. That's what made me wonder and think it wasn't a T-Con.

I did see it was a Sharp panel too... funny!

Thanks again, much appreciated. Will report back.

        Take care.

Well, a T-con would be worth trying... but I'm leery, due to what comptek has stated. Looks eerily like the 52XBR I worked on a year ago. However, I thought the tab bond issue was specific to those XBR models, and I thought Sony "fixed" that issue with later models. Maybe not.

I actually missed the part in your first post about it being intermittent. That makes me a bit more skeptical about it being the t-con. Mess with the connectors and tabs first and see if you can make the problem come and go, or even change at all.

Will do aaron. Just haven't had time to mess with it yet... maybe this weekend.

                Thank you!

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                  by kca
                  Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                  by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                  Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                  First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Hello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
                  by Akuanka
                  Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sharp Aquos LC-70C6400U Half Screen Dark
                  by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...
