Panasonic TC-P50G20 HDMI Failure

I had lightning strike the house and it turns out an XBOX that was plugged into the TV via HDMI was not on a surge protector, and since this time no HDMI ports receive input. The TV still appears to function fine (turn on and display a picture and navigate menus), but there just isn't a signal.

As such it seems perhaps the strike may have shorted out my A board (TXN/A1MGUUS), however I wanted to see if there are other steps I should perform to verify prior ordering the part off of ebay. I don't have ready access to a voltage meter or resistors, or much experience testing with such things. I do have experience building and troubleshooting computers, so from what I could see replacing the A board should be within my sphere of knowhow (take a bunch of screws out, remove the connectors, replace board, reverse).

Any advice is appreciated.

Here are some pics of the back. There's nothing visually wrong that I can tell. Looking at the schematics it looks like everything with the HDMI should be contained on the A board, unless there was a general power failure, which I can find no evidence for (again with the aforementioned lack of direct voltage testing). If anything jumps out at anyone else, or if indeed the A board seems like a good bet, please let me know. Thanks!

No you havent , everything is ok! Including the pictures.

To high current went through your x-box into the mainboard from your tv. You are lucky the tv turns on and displays a picture.
The current has fried the HDMI controller on the mainboard. You can repair it yourself if you know how to desolder the chip on the mainboard and resolder the new chip back on.

If you don't want to repair it yourself then order a mainboard on ebay/shopjimmy and simply replace it.
You can also use component. Its the same quality as HDMI but without sound.

TNPH0834 is your mainboard.

Normally there is also a white sticker that says the version of your board. Its probably hidden under the metal shield on the right hand side.

Ps , even if you do replace the hdmi controller chip. There can be more parts damaged on the board. I would replace the mainboard and replace the chip whenever you feel like it so you can keep it as a spare.

So after replacing the A board now I'm getting 10 blinks and the unit won't power on. Does this indicate something bad with the replacement? Or something else wrong?

Me thinks you received a bad board, assuming it is correctly hooked back up and no other connectors are loose. I know it's a pain, but you could put your old board back in to make sure.

Put the old board back in and it's back to how it was before, powers on but no HDMI. So I guess this board is going back. Just to make sure there's no procedures I should have to do to tell the TV to use the new board right? Should be as simple as disconnecting the old, plugging in the new and powering on right?

Got this one in eBay (high rep seller). Any reputable supplier for this type of thing or am I just going to need to try another chop shop?

Keep buying until you get one that works! Did the same a few years back on the G15 model, got lucky on the 2nd one purchased.
