    KDL-40X4500 and KDL-46X4500 Issues

    Hi Everyone,

I have a Sony KDL-40X4500 and KDL-46X4500 that were in perfect working condition when I last stowed them away (approximately 1 and 2 years ago respectively).

The issue with the larger TV is that it won't power on - there's no audio, no video, no clicking noise. Just the green power LED blinking every 3 seconds indefinitely.

The smaller TV exhibits very different symptoms. Hitting the power button results in an audible click with the green power LED turning on, but then a second later the unit turns itself off.

I have tried a factory reset (holding Up on remote, pushing the power button on the TV) and cycling power (disconnecting power, waiting 5 minutes, reconnecting power) but both don't seem to work.

I suspected that the smaller TV was having issues with power so I took out the G6 board for a closer look but none of the capacitors seem to be bulging/leaking and none of the ICs appear to be burnt. There was no apparent damage on the adjacent D4 board either.'

    Any ideas, anyone?

Caveat: I am not by any stretch a "techie"; I can assemble and water cool a PC but am generally clumsy with a soldering iron. Please be patient!

Posting pictures of the back of your tv showing the boards with clear pictures may help you more with fixing your problem

due above yours post and yours country location as shown here on your Profile, both of yours set could be effected with bad soldering as yours humanity very high and long term of storage. . one tips it could help you, that never clean the boards from both side before you inspect them with magnifier all points even SMD parts if any had brown oxide color need to heat the point with soldering iron. after you get this done then clean all boards with at least 95% alcohol,

I attempted to power on the smaller 40" TV yesterday and it suddenly started working!

This was after I pulled the G6 board out (to take pictures), reconnecting it and cleaning the dust off.

I initially panicked when I wasn't getting audio/video after hooking it up to my Bluray player but it turned out the HDMI cable was faulty.

I didn't have time to pull the boards off the larger TV for pics, but will do that when I get home after work. I did manage to get the service manual though.

I took a picture of the front and back of the 46" TV G6 board.

It's been a long day, so I only took a photo of the top of the GL board.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
              by PantherDave
              Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

              Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

              Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
              Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
              Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
              Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

              Original NES power issues
              by sli4
I recently turned on my old NES to find the red light won't go on at all. When powered on it shows black bars on the tv and a loud buzz through the tv speakers. Powering it off, the buzz goes away and tv goes back to normal (white snow).

I tested the power supply itself and it is outputting 9V as it should - first two solder joints on the board at the power port show the same.

Here's where it starts getting funky - When powered on, one side of the 7805 voltage regulator is showing 18V and the other is about 8.7V (center 0).

On the big blue connector I get...
