    AOC SW919-1 No power

AOC monitor will not power on. I think (based on the brown scorch mark) that maybe this capacitor C912 blew. Does anyone know if replacing it may fix my issue? I am very new to this, and so before I venture down that road and order a capacitor I'd like to have an idea of if this will work. My fear is that once it blew other parts may have been damaged.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You need to replace C912 as you are correct in that it is damaged. If that does not cure the fault then you will need to carry out further checks.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

It's quite brown around that area. Are there any components underneath the board at that point. If not I would freshly solder all the transformer pins. Something looks as though it has got hot.

Need to check the SMD Power MOSFETs (they drive the inverter transfoemr) on the bottom side of the board where the dark brown area is.

This is the back of the board. Just to the right of my finger is the back of the capacitor I replaced, mentioned in my original post (notice my poor snip of the wires). The capacitor replacement did not fix the issue by the way. The monitor does not turn on.

Again, thanks to everyone who's replied so far!

It looks like the legs of the new cap were not trimmed, were they bent over due to them touching the chassis?
If you run the power supply board by itself, what are the DCVs between the two legs of the capacitors you replaced?
What is the DCV between the two legs of C829?
Also need the resistance reading between the two leg of C829

I actually bent them down like that to avoid any possible contact. I didn't have my good snippers handy and couldn't get any closer.

As for the DCV, I have this multi-meter (attached). Forgive my ignorance, should the monitor be plugged in when I test and also which setting should I have the meter on?

                Set to DCV 20V scale.
Yes the board will have to be plugged into an AC outlet and you do not need to have any boards connected to the power supply board, the Voltage should be on the caps because the power supply is an always on power supply.
To be safe you should plug the power cord to a GFCI outlet in case you accidentally touch the hot side of the board.
BUT if you are not sure what you are doing then you should not be working on it, a mistake can kill you.

yeah my soldering job isn't the greatest. I replaced the cap mentioned in the first few posts.

I tested both capacitors with the power running to the board. I received 0.00 as the reading on both, with the meter set to 20v DCV.

BTW, you did do some simple test on component such as the main AC fuse and measured the DCV between the two legs of the main filter cap, right?

No actually I haven't done either, I'm a novice with monitors. Would you be willing to explain either? I'd love to learn more.

Also, I tested both Caps and neither returned a reading on my meter.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                              Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                              Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
