I already have done my fair amount of pad lifting.
The problem is that is I mess a board up, there are no others available to replace it with and with most shops having a policy of not working on a board if a repair attemp has been made, I have to room for error.

There are somethings you can't get better at. No matter how much I practice, I could never do what Messi does for example. Lol
May I am at my best level now.

I tried, for the last time though. I give up as you have. Give it a reflow though bud and let us know.

Sausage/pepperoni and a pint of Miller High Life. Just keep a close eye on it!
It's already not working so you can't get it fuct up. You can find them for replacement, you just have to look every day. Best of luck.
P.S. I know why this is a bad idea Reece, but when out of options, got to improvise.

I have changed a couple myself now and im still learning the first one i did was with a soldering iron like in the video the second time with a hot air station and it is easy in my opinion just take your time or maybe if you get the ic and dont feel like changing it maybe theres a badcaps member in your area willing to help you.
Yes there is always a risk of lifting pads on any pcb we all have probably done a few in the past but most can be fixed easily enough.

                      Re: Lg 47LV5500 issues.

Well this is for another tv I have made another thread about. It is an 8 leg eeprom chip, and looks less daunting. The chip is $15 and the board on eBay is $43.
There are 2 32" tvs listed on Craigslist in my area under $50. One for $50 and the other $29, so it's hard to justify spending $43 for the board.

                        Re: Lg 47LV5500 issues.

Well I just practiced on a bad board. Using my soldering iron I took an 8 legged IC chip off and put it back on. Taking it off was easier than getting it back on.
Have to make sure I don't bridge the pads.

In the mean time I've taken my heat gun to the cpu of the main board to this tv. Not sure how long I should have kept it on there. I couldn't see the solder on it as it is covered by the chip I guess.
I did about 2 minutes about 2 inches away at low setting. My heat gun has low and high.

There is a repair service on eBay for it for $135, I asked and they said the repair doesn't involving changing the eeproom, so I don't really know what they do.

everybody does reflows diffrent i tend to add flux too then heat the board from underneath then do the top side.
Maybe they do change the eeprom but dont want anyone to know they charge that much for doing it? as if thats all they change its a good profit.

It worked for a bit. I got the onscreen display for about a minute then it went off.
I did use flux. I didn't hear the bottom as there are tiny capacitors on the opposite side.

Maybe I should try the oven method.

10 minutes in the oven at 390F didn't fix it either. Now it's stuck on the lg life's good screen.
I guess I'll have to send the board out.

No no it needs a reflow mate. Give it a proper go with the heatsink removed and use flux and slowly heat and get closer to the chip.

Should I leave the heat gun on low or high?

You want about 220c or 425f to melt lead free solder.

M heat gun only has low or high. I don't wan to damage the cpu or gpu. Not sure what it is exactly.

There really is no place to put the solder. I can't see any of the pins. Do I just put some around the edges? That's what I did the first time.

Yes, put it round the edges, when it gets hot it gets wicked underneath to do the magic on the balls.

Have to run LG C1 on multiple times for it to fully work

If I have it off for a while I have to turn the TV on and off and handful of times for it actually display what it's suppose. The times it doesn't nothing comes up like the input or dobly vision logo. Once it's on I can turn it off and back on fine and the picture looks perfect.

Unhooked everything except antenna. Reset tv to factory settings. Let it sit and when I tried 2hrs later turned TV on and sound comes through but no picture....

                                            Hello,

                                            I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
                                            1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
                                            2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
                                            3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.

From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...

For Badcaps Readers, Please note that I am hopefully going to present this same message to Lenovo to see if they have any insight to the matter as well and figured to share the entirety here for clarification. The System is out of warranty as it is but does have the option to have it extended.

Hi, trying to troubleshoot some problems with this laptop I just finished repairing which had power issues (Burnt Buck converter - SY8883DFC shorted to ground).

After repairing the above issue, I realized the following remaining problem,
Sound only comes from bottom speakers, top palmrest speakers don't work. Neither does the headphone jack (static/buzzing).
The computer recognizes headphones are connected and displays a popup in windows
Sometimes, the computer will boot up and the sound will be working fine. However, if I run intensive programs and the computer...

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH - Ideapad 3 well known solder joint issues
                                            by Nagyesz
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH, which has started exhibiting the well-known issues of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3.

All stress tests run perfectly, and there are no performance issues. However, the solder joints are almost certainly starting to fail. If the top two screws on the back are not screwed in, moving the screen results in a BSOD or, in some cases, a slight artifact and freeze. This is a 2023 notebook..

How can I extend its lifespan? Could reflow help?

It has ryzen 5 5500h, rtx 2050, no soldered ram.

                                            Example of the artifacts:
                                            ...
