    Lg 47LV5500 issues.

Just got this today for free. Not sure how to describe the problem.
The tv will on, LG life is good will splash on the screen then disappear. Back lights stay on.
Some times the lg life is good message flashes a couple more times other times not.
Not sure what to check, haven't even taken it apart yet.

Mainboard issue, probably bga solder on the Cpu or firmware failure.

Should I put flux on it? How long should I leave the heat gun on it?

Wouldn't it be best to attempt the firmware update as suggested by ReeceyBurger123 first?
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

How? I can't get to the onscreen menu?
The instructions from lg support is to select update from the on screen menu.

I'll try. His doesn't mention that.

The eeprom is $20 on eBay. Service to have someone replace the eeprom it $135.

The pizza oven re-flow worked twice for me. One was this exact model. One was a 55". Both still working . I only did it because replacement boards are hard to find , or over priced.
I have no idea what the temp is in it, so I just put it in for about 2 min. and checked it like every 15 sec. When I saw shinny solder, and no melting plastic, I pulled it out and let it cool for 30 min. I still can't believe it worked ....Twice!

Do not do the pizza flow method Mal, if you do I will personally fly out over to where you live uninstall your oven and smash it up then take it to the skip and keep the money for the scrap metal. Do one with a heat gun and flux, remove the heatsink before reflow then after apply fresh thermal paste to the Cpu.

Not easy for me reecey. I tried the IGTBs on the Panasonic SU board. That was hard enough.
I followed norcals video, same heat gun set on low. Didn't do anything, kept it on the same amount of time as he did, as the video was running as I was doing it.
Even used the same brand flux. I had to put my heat gun on high.

Im only 17 you think I didnt mess things up when learning ? I did, badly sometimes with ripped pads etc. You will learn if you actually try buddy. However from what that other chap said I would try reflowing this first before replacing the epprom/flash spi chip.

If I have it off for a while I have to turn the TV on and off and handful of times for it actually display what it's suppose. The times it doesn't nothing comes up like the input or dobly vision logo. Once it's on I can turn it off and back on fine and the picture looks perfect.

Unhooked everything except antenna. Reset tv to factory settings. Let it sit and when I tried 2hrs later turned TV on and sound comes through but no picture....

Samsung DM32D – Red LED blinks 5 times, won’t start (possible mainboard issue)

                                          Hello,

                                          I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
                                          1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
                                          2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
                                          3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.

From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...

For Badcaps Readers, Please note that I am hopefully going to present this same message to Lenovo to see if they have any insight to the matter as well and figured to share the entirety here for clarification. The System is out of warranty as it is but does have the option to have it extended.

Hi, trying to troubleshoot some problems with this laptop I just finished repairing which had power issues (Burnt Buck converter - SY8883DFC shorted to ground).

After repairing the above issue, I realized the following remaining problem,
Sound only comes from bottom speakers, top palmrest speakers don't work. Neither does the headphone jack (static/buzzing).
The computer recognizes headphones are connected and displays a popup in windows
Sometimes, the computer will boot up and the sound will be working fine. However, if I run intensive programs and the computer...

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH - Ideapad 3 well known solder joint issues
                                          by Nagyesz
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH, which has started exhibiting the well-known issues of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3.

All stress tests run perfectly, and there are no performance issues. However, the solder joints are almost certainly starting to fail. If the top two screws on the back are not screwed in, moving the screen results in a BSOD or, in some cases, a slight artifact and freeze. This is a 2023 notebook..

How can I extend its lifespan? Could reflow help?

It has ryzen 5 5500h, rtx 2050, no soldered ram.

                                          Example of the artifacts:
                                          ...
