    50 inch Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85H

    Hi There
New to the forum but hopefully someone can help me. I have TH-50PZ85U that is 8 years old. Bought it with the black vertical line problem. Was told that it happened about three months ago. As it seems everyone has suggested that I find the ribbon connector that is directly in line with the black line and I did. I removed the ribbon cable and cleaned the connector and ribbon cable with alcohol and a Q tip and reinstalled the cable and no change. I removed the ribbon cable once again and powered up the TV. This confirmed that I had the right ribbon connector and the top half of the line changed to horizontal thin black lines and the bottom half went to what I call snow. I reconnected the cable and everything returned to a solid black vertical line. Can anyone suggest where I should go from here. Is it a bad panel, is it the circuit board that the ribbon connector is connected to or is it another board? I hope someone can provide some suggestions as I don't want to scrap the TV just yet.
    Thank you
    Bruce

I think its a bad ic on the flatcable thats bad. Its not repairable unfortunately because its attached to the panel.
It has a specific name which i forgot.

Also the power supply of this tv is worth money so as Martino says. Keep the parts and sell them. With the money you can buy a defective plasma and repair it?

Thanks So much for all your input on this. It is refreshing to see that there are members out there willing to provide suggestions. I was hoping that it might be a a bad interface board that the ribbon connector is fastened to. For the time being I will enjoy the TV complete with the black line while I look into where I could list the power supply board and main board.
Thanks again for every ones input.

If reseating the ribbon cable does not work then it's the panel thats failing.

Just put the boards on Ebay/craigslist and im sure you will loose them.

According to this thread, bad panel if the vertical line has sparkle dots line (not solid black).

                Hi everyone!

So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

No LCD image after connector replacement – lifted components and damaged resistor (Nintendo Switch Lite HDH-CPU-02)
                by Tomylee
                Hi everyone,

Sorry for the person who’s going to read all this !
I'm on a Nintendo Switch Lite, motherboard HDH-CPU-02.

While replacing the left joystick, I had to remove the motherboard to access the connector underneath. When I lifted the LCD connector latch, it broke (the plastic had become brittle over time), so I replaced the entire connector.

During the desoldering of the LCD connector using hot air, three small components located just below the connector (likely 0402 capacitors) came off and remained stuck to the bottom of the...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                by Alicat
                Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Panasonic P42S30 Plasma - Pink sparkles
                by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

Dead Panasonic Viera TX-P65STW50 Plasma TV
                by badcappo
Hello, got a ST50 plasma TV for repair. No signs of life, not even blink codes. Opened it up to check the power supply, type MPF6914. Apparent issues from visual detection and measuring for shorts:
                Diode type G972s6 - D101 with a short
                Mosfet 06N90E - Q301 shorted
                Fuse T5AH 250V - F103 blown
                Diode D301 shorted
                Relay DG1U-17VDC II - RL001 blown

I have not found a circuit diagram. Maybe someone here already dealt with a similar issue? Thanks for tips where else to check 😀...
