Viewsonic N2750W With a Mind of Its Own

Without tearing into it yet, I'm guessing it's the Main Board but wanted to check with the 'Collective' before doing anything dumb (again).

    Symptoms:
    1) No response at all via front panel power-button or top-mount controls (volume/channel/menu/etc).
    2) Will ONLY respond to remote (Power/source/etc).
    3) Bring volume up (remote), and it drops it back down by itself.
    4) When changing source, it will display the new source name for only fraction of a second.
    5) Going to MENU, it will randomly choose a menu 'page' and then lock up.
    6) When in MENU, will sometimes cycle a setting (brightness/contrast/etc) up and down by itself.
    ... and so on.

As I said, I'm assuming Main Board because I'd assume that's where the 'brains' are. Have already amassed a stockpile of "Gee, maybe it's this board" when i guessed wrong. Fortunately, replacement boards are a lot less expensive than what I've been working-on of late.

    Thanks in advance!

I vote stuck push buttons too. Disconnect the push button board (turn on the TV first if the IR sensor is also on there) and see if it still does it.

      A working TV? How boring!

Re: Viewsonic N2750W With a Mind of Its Own

It could be also some interference from a fluorescent source nearby , or a nearby neighbor playing tricks on you , or some sort of spillage inside (Check for any recent cleanings) , and even a stuck remote control .

        According to my experience ...

All good ideas, thanks. Checking for stuck button was the first thing I tried when I got it a couple days ago (Oops, shoulda mentioned that before).

"But Wait! There's More!" ... as the tv announcer used to say. Tried to turn in on today, and got nothing. Up til now I was able to rule-out the PS, but this may begin to lead down diverging paths.

            Closing the loop here...
YES! It was a button! But not in the usual sense....

So I removed the push-button board again and played around with that, no joy. Next, was a replacement main board (I was sooo sure that was it ), but nope! Then squirted stuff into the tiny buttons and cycled them, thinking maybe a bad contact... not so.

However, I did get the tv to act 'normal' one time while poking the buttons. Ah-ha! Progress! Couldn't find anything obvious, so I eBayed a new button-board.

EUREKA! That was it! Did a post-mortem on the old button-board and found that the MENU button was actually cracked internally.

So how did that happen? No idea. TV had the symptoms even before I got started on it (I swear!!), so I DIDN'T DO IT!!!!

Just one of those things, right?

            Right!

Thanks to all that posted, and I hope maybe this will help someone else in the future!

              Hello,

So I was referred here when I made this poste over on AVForums: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/loc...lg-tv.3257234/

To summarize, this is a commercial TV and I can't get a menu of any kind. I know the overlay is working because when I change channel, adjust volume, turn on sleep timer I do see text. But I have not ever seen the user menu nor the installers menu. I've tried a bunch of remotes(more info on the AVF post) and tried every button...

Philips 58PUS7805 Menu working but no/weird picture from video sources
              by Ierwin
              Hello everyone,

I got a 58pus7805 that shows some weird behavior.
The menu and remote work fine and the picture is looking crisp and flawless while navigating the menu.
However, when a video source is displayed the screen either goes solid green (HDMI), solid black (SAT TV) or shows some fragments on mostly green background (AVI Playback from USB).

I tried to reinstall the firmware through the menu which was rejected saying it already had the latest version.
I managed to install the latest official firmware by holding the control button while plugging...

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
              by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

How to access Vizio m652i-b2 service menu
              by tusiime
The current main board on my Vizio m652i-b2 only has 1 of 4 HDMI ports working. Also, the coaxial port is not working.

So I ordered a replacement board. It boots up the tv, but the display is dark in areas, colors are off, etc. I have seen information online that a setting in the service menu may need to be adjusted. Have tried many ways to access the service menu using remote codes, but none work.

Can someone here provide the confirmed method for accessing the service menu on this tv? Thanks in advance!
